It's summer camp as usual at Camp Manabe where the kids torment each other for fun while the underpaid camp staff provides as little supervision as possible. Greedy camp owner Frank and junior partner Ronnie do their best to keep everyone in line, but something sinister is about to put a slash in the roster. When campers and staff mysteriously begin disappearing and turning into gruesome corpses, paranoid Ronnie can't shake the memory of a series of grisly murders that took place at Camp Arawak. As the paranoia worsens, Ronnie's list of possible killers starts growing just like the body count. Only one thing is for certain, something is carving a bloody new trail at Sleepaway Camp where kids can be so mean and surviving this summer is gonna be a real killer!

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

God that movie was terrible !! bad acting , bad script , lame jokes and awful kills !! During the entire movie, you see that fat kid Allen who is a bully getting bullied by other campers. Seriously, i would have been totally embarrassed if get i bullied by bunch of wannabes who have an IQ lower than average. If I was in that movie in real life, I would have probably joined Angela and hunt down these idiots one by one. Please avoid and don't waste your time on this one !!

After watching the original sleepaway camp, I tough i ll give this movie a try. God that movie was awful, it look liked it was filmed with a cell Phone with a bunch of retards. The story and the actors were terrible. I can't believe how a music legend like isaac hayes had accepted to start in this crap ( btw my favorite isaac hayes songs are "that loving feeling" and "ike rap 1 ") During the entire movie , U see this fat kid getting bullied and the weird thing is that he is also a bully. Seriously, if I was getting bullied like that, I would have sent all these morons to the nearest hospital. In fact, Im sure I could taken them pretty easy all by myself since they didn't even look that strong and were physically shorter than me . The kills in this movie were awful and at the same time funny, for example one of the camper who is a total idiot gets pierce in the eye. Then we have a bunch of people who can't even act ( if you can call that acting). The only ones that I like were Ricky and Angela since they were in the original movie. Never in my life I despised so many characters in a movie , they are unlikable and totally deserved their fate in the movie. Trust me do not waste you time on this movie.

This one is NOT a comedy! It's also very graphic. The real Angela is back, same actress as the original! By the way, this Angela is even more evil than ANY villain of any horror movie! A few of his victims LIVE through what he does to them! You know the classic hunter's motto, "To be humane, kill! Don't maim!" Maiming the characters to the degree she does is extremely evil, but for that alone, I gave it ten stars! Alan is a mean fat kid who's picked on relentlessly at camp. He's hostile towards just about everyone in return. For me, he's a very believable character. I've seen a few Alan's at my high school. Actually, a lot of the characters very well done. This movie also has a lot of shout-outs to the original, you'll see quite a few familiar faces, including that councellor who still looks like he belongs in a Richard Simmons work-out video.

I saw the first sleepaway camp and it was as gruesome as can be,perhaps not as gruesome as 1981's the burning, but the ending is unforgettable,no spoilers.but return is a direct sequel to the first sleepaway camp and almost the same plot.there's a fat outcast kid everyone in the camp picks on,a greedy camp owner played by a slimmed down Vincent Pastore(sopranos)and another sopranos actor Lenny Venito as one of the camp cooks.and Issac Hayes in his last film.the killing scenes are very gory.and then there's Paul D'Amgelo as Ronnie from the first sleepaway camp as a co owner of camp manabe(formally camp Arawak)but i would call return to sleepaway camp as true sequel, not like the other ones unhappy campers and teenage wasteland but really true to the original more or less.return is a welcome return to the 1980's slasher flicks without the stupid cg effects overdone so much these days.i totally recommend return to sleepaway camp to those who enjoyed the 1983 original and fans of 80's slasher films.
