Thomas Finley has been arrested for the murder of his nineteen-year old sister, Samantha and fifty-two year old, Edgar Lauren, a Professor and paranormal investigator. Police were called to the scene by Thomas himself in the early hours of the morning, finding him inside with his sister's body cradled in his arms. In his statement given in police custody, Thomas claimed that the victims were attacked by a demonic entity of unknown origin. Days later, he committed suicide. It is the opinion of those closely related to the family that a video found at the scene be shown to the public as a final testament to what actually happened inside the Finley home in those final days.

SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?

The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

Paranormal Entity (2009) ** (out of 4) The Asylum's "mockbuster" of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY has a brother (Shane Van Dyke) filming his sister (Erin Marie Hogan) and mother (Fia Perera) when strange things start to occur. You know, you have to love the cheapness of The Asylum. For very little cash, very little time and very little talent they manage to make all sorts of dough with this generic little films. This one here is actually much better than the rest of their "found footage" films but at the same time it's very weak when compared to the other movie and its biggest sin is the fact that it's not scary at all. It's pretty funny to watch this movie and see how closely it comes to PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. There are several scenes that are nearly the same with the only difference being that here it's not scary. I personally loved the other film but as a film buff I'm curious to see the rip-offs. For the most part I thought it was technically a good movie. The cinematography was nice for this type of movie and I thought there were a few good ideas sprinkled across the picture. I won't spoil exactly what's doing the hauntings but this was a nice item that is sadly wasted in a not-so-good movie. I also thought Erin Marie Hogan was good as the sister and her nude scene towards the end did at least wake me up. The highlight of the film? The speech given by mommy when the son asks her and the sister to go to a motel while he stays at the house with the ghost. Priceless.

Watched this film to the end thinking it wouldn't have been up to much as I'd never heard of it but it was excellent and very believable. I wouldn't even give Paramonormal Activity 5 minutes of my time as it bored me but this is right up there and well worth the watch. Would definitely recommend this as it's a great movie. I have been trailing the net to find the title of this film as it's the sort that sticks in your head and you keep thinking about it. So good old IMDb was able to let me know what it was called so I can now get it and watch it again as once was definitely not enough. Don't waste your time following the unrealistic parts of paranormal activity as this film by far leaves it miles behind.

Good acting with an imaginative twist on the original "Paranormal Activity" make this movie worth watching for anyone who enjoys the Shock- u-mentary genre ala Blair Witch. The story centers around the "found footage" of paranormal activity experienced by a small family.I watched this movie before Paranormal Activity. I ended up watching the P.A. after getting the DVD's 1&2 with advertised free tickets for the third installment. Paranormal Entity is actually a lot scarier; with a lot more imaginative "phenomena" going on. Finally, a 5$ DVD from Walmart that is actually worth every penny!

I got into the bad position of wanting to see 'Paranormal Activity' and having netflix offer the dreaded rip-off 'Paranormal Entity'. Rip-offs can never be as good as the original! So I waited and got the real deal and watched it. Then, after I'd mulled it over for a few weeks I went back and watched 'Paranormal Entity' which I have to say was the more entertaining film. (Shocker!) If you've never seen either film, go for either, or both! If you like one, you'll like the other and visa-versa. However, in a side-by-side comparison there are a couple of places 'Entity' really outshined 'Activity' in my opinion.1. Characters - while the brother in 'Entity' was vaguely annoying, and I didn't buy the chemistry between him and his sister AT ALL (a brother shouldn't stare at his sister's bazongas that much, but she was kind of throwing it out there...) Regardless, I find the trio of Mom, Bro and Sis a lot less irritating and more collaborative than the constantly bickering, smarmy Micah and Katie. If I wanted to watch bf/gf fights I'd turn on reality TV. With 'Entity' there is a feeling of internal unity in the family that makes you feel like we're all allies. And then you have Micah... tongue in cheek, taunting, undermining, escalating. Thanks a pantload for that.2. Motive/Threat - I enjoyed the fact that the ghost in 'Entity' had a clear entry point and motive to his haunting. Maybe it's because I'm female, but the knowledge that this spirit's rumblings were all leading up to a rape made it MUCH more scary and intense for me. What could be more classically unsettling than violation by an evil spirit?? On the reverse side, 'Activity' had a weak explanation for continuity of the hauntings (on and off for years... not very immediately threatening) and if you throw in that garbage the sequel offered for explanation you have even more questions and less sense of a clear motive. Whoever thought up that mess of a story needs to stop writing. The effects weren't as subtle, the hysteria was higher, and the story was a COMPLETE rip-off, but I'd have to say I'm a lot more satisfied with 'Entity'. Not everyone will be.
