Alien Apocalypse (2005)

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

What can I say? If Bruce Campbell wasn't in this, there would be no reason to watch it. It's not just bad; it's terrible... The dialogue is beyond cheesy; the plot seems to have arisen during an after-work drinking session; the special effects are shamefully constructed by a ten year old; the wardrobe department has plundered the local hardware and costume shops and the acting, well, I think the furry bikini-clad woman may have actually been a store mannequin. This, I realise, is an insult to store mannequins. In fact, there's so much wrong with it it almost makes it back around the scale to good - another cheesy movie to be enjoyed on the sole condition that you are one of those strange people who enjoys revelling in the absurd.

It's a good thing the filmmakers didn't make this a real serious film. It is clearly low budget and the acting is really really bad. There are touches of imagination, and that is appreciated but the special effects are only average. The premise itself sound interesting, astronauts return to earth after a forty year mission, and earth has been taken over by wood craving aliens. Then it struck me, what outer space mission isn't on daily contact with earth? So it makes the whole story invalid. How could they be so surprised? Although the humor is welcome, it's also out of place. The score becomes monotonous after awhile. It was just to stupid to be enjoyed.

This "SCI FI Original" feature is definitely worth a single viewing, if only for the very real chemistry between Bruce Campbell and Renee O'Connor during their more intimate scenes.In fact, those scenes actually make this film enjoyable, despite the low quality production efforts and the (painfully) agonizing line delivery by many of the voice actors used during looping.I pray Campbell and O'Connor are paired up in many more films, because their real-life chemistry soared above the material, and somehow made this flawed C-grade (almost Z-grade) film enjoyable, instead of intolerable, even after several viewings.Best Line: "Your stupidity is terminal, and now, you're cured." Best Scene: Foreplay between Campbell/O'Connor on the animal skins in the underground holding cell.

But what can I say....it had Bruce Campbell in it and and the aliens had green blood! The special effects were very poor, but amusing, the acting ranged from Monty python over the top poor to campy to very sarcastic from B. Campbell. Still Bruce just oozes charisma it a very weird way and he is always watchable.The dialog is corny at best.The violence with the exception of a shooting near the beginning is all cartoon-like in its execution.I really can not recommend this to mainstream viewers, they will not like it. But (B)Si-Fi fans, Bruce Campbell fans and people who like very silly waste of time movies will enjoy this.
