Fallen (2006)
For high schooler Aaron Corbett, turning 18 means becoming not just a man but a nephilim, too -- half human, half angel, with supernatural abilities.

Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
Overrated
Brilliant and touching
Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
Lucinda (Addison Timlin) gets into trouble and goes to "Sword and Cross" aka bad teen school. Here she goes googly-eyed over two boys and discovers that her and just about everyone there is a fallen angel. Now if you think that is a plot spoiler, you slept through the opening monologue reinforced by the classroom scenes. Actually there are no such thing in theology but if you create a series around it, it must be true. The film is filled with teen angst and I can see where it would have a tween girl appeal, but as they enter adulthood they will see it is as nauseating as "Twilight" and just as poorly acted. I had trouble keeping my supper down watching the film, especially when the blond good guy and dark haired bad boy fight over Lucinda. The 12 year old girl might love it while the rest of the family groans.
Not at all like the books! The books were so good! Also the characters were so far beyond good and evil, black and white labels. It was complex and interesting! Although Bryan Cranston did a great job as Lucifer the book version was a way better story line. Book Lucifer was sincerely repentant for the pain he caused and the deaths of his fellow angels and all the deaths and pain since the fall. He was good and bad. It was poetic that his redemption come at the hands of his son. He never asked for it but wanted to earn it and help his son, and earn his trust. The actors did do a good job, but the writers should have stuck to the book. Perhaps they strayed because people can't deal with a grey area. Lucifer bad, god good. Can't handle god good, Lucifer complicated makes mistakes was bad kid angel but doesn't want to be 5000 years later.
After Fallen aired, there was a promotion that sent me to a website called www.oculareffect.com - this professor is looking into an online object he calls the Oculus (www.00112358.net) - almost every week it updates with a strange symbol (just like the ones that Aaron Corbett sees burned into his skin!). Inside there is a puzzle that unlocks a vision of the past or the future - so far it has sent us to another nephilim called Faith Arella who has a weblog (www.faitharella.com) - on it she is chasing these symbols to meet people around the world. It's another story that's happening online during the break between now and the next episode of Fallen - it looks pretty cool and I've already registered for email updates.
As a lover of angels myself, I was quite disappointed and/or saddened to figure out that a, how should I put this, the negligence of research and lack of knowledge in this particular field. For example, in Biblical accounts it is clearly stated that God had stricken ALL angelic creatures from being able to reproduce or have such sexual organs. I would LOVE an explanation on how the protagonist of this show was able to fraternize and continue to have a history of human relationships. I don't see how such a big oversight could have happened when movies such as "Dogma", a well-known film, clearly pointed out that angels no longer have such organs, secondly, the sword fighting leaves a lot to be desired.
