Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.

Having read and studied the book a number of times I was excited about the potential that a film adaptation would hold. I was extremely disappointed that the entire message of the story is changed particularly the ending. At times it is quite unnerving . Do not recommend if you have any respect for Orwell's work.

The movie is well edited so the dialogue and movements seem more natural in most places. It has a few grim scenes but nothing too bad. I really like this movie a lot and the symbolism is conveyed nicely. Whether you're simply a little misanthropic or a history buff you'll probably like this movie quite a bit. The characters were very easy to relate to, at least in my opinion. The few songs in the movie are presented in a tasteful manner. This movie shouldn't be classified as a musical however. I think this movie would be great to show to kids in high school or maybe even middle school as it could be a good educational resource.

First of all, I am going to say that my opinion of the book - which is terrible - does not alter my opinion of the film. The film is too far from the book in my opinion. There are too many differences. The beginning of the film presents Farmer Jones as an extremely drunk looser, which he is. If this movie is intended for kids, then the creators don't have any kids. Within the first ten minutes, there is an implied sex scene, and countless frightening images. I got stuck watching this in a literature class. Don't bother watching it if you have the choice. No number of lines in this review can stress how boring and stupid this film was.

I really do wish people would get that into their heads. Just because it's about barnyard animals with no sex or adult language, doesn't mean that's necessarily for kids. It's, as many people well know, a metaphor for the atrocities of the Soviet Union under Stalin. It's bleak, nasty and upsetting, but it speaks the truth on the hypocrisy of leaderships, corruption and fascism. And yet they decide to portray the story as though it's a children's film, with live action talking animals, with a special lighting to make it look child-like and family friendly. No! This is not what George Orwell's tale is about. The book is extremely depressing, but in this film, and especially the ending, they made it look like the things that happened were no big deal. It's true that in real life, Stalin's regime collapsed on itself, "a victim of its own malice" in the end, but it would have been better if it wasn't depicted in the movie. Jesse, the sheepdog, serves as a narrator, and seems to predict and see through the evils of Napoleon, and yet does nothing about it. All the animals in the book apart from the pigs could not see what was going on due their myopia and little intelligence. And the violence was also very subdued. If another adaptation should be done, it should be more gritty and truer to the novel, and to get the point the Orwell was intending point out.
