SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?
It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
This movie is in many ways good but i personally don't think it was great yeah sure the strong familial bond is deeply touching but in many ways i thought the movie is absurd (of-course i have no idea about prisons in Korea) it made my cry, it made my laugh, it made me feel but not in a way deep enough
For me, measurement of a good cinema is, it should make you think. So, have you ever seen something so simple yet so beautiful that it changes your entire perspective about life? This is one of those movies. Seung-ryong Ryu's beautifully and brilliantly played the character of father. Everything from the story to the dialogues delivery, was just up to the mark. This movies made me thing how stupidly we make judgment's basis on mere assumptions. it has a great story, great actors and most of all a great learning experience as well. In other words it will make you think for sure. MUST WATCH!!
I'm deeply sorry for disliking your favourite movie. But damn, that was a huge calculated load of rubbish. Take a super cute, good looking girl that makes a good cry face, an innocent convicted and a compulsive tear jerker story - voilà: standard dull korean drama. It's even worse than that. There weren't plot holes, the whole movie itself is a plot hole. First: The extremely incompetent and stupid court and (of course *yawn*) corrupted police work that made me want to bump my head on the table. Apparently constables in Korea lack brain or are just evil. Maybe both. Second: Somehow the entire jail was filled with dinky altruists that love and sacrifice themselves for each other. How sappy is that?! Third: The standard happy ending. Love, peace, harmony and everything is hunky-dory... Seriously, what happened to the Korean Cinema? So many monotonous K-Dramas. That's neither touching nor beautiful but terrible and boring fast food cinema. Hopefully Park Chan-wook et al. can rescue the sinking ship.
I love watching movies, and this is the first movie that made me cry a LOT (even experienced hyperventilation during some of the really heavy scenes). South Korea is know for their artistic and heavy film making, whatever the genre is, and this film is no exception. Story line is simple; even a child can understand what's going on. We see a goofy and loving father and his Adorable daughter; Rich couple and their innocent daughter taken suddenly by an accident; High official taken by grief due to the loss of a beloved; and a lot of inmates who all have their own special characters to the story. It's the remarkable love between a father and daughter that makes it so simple yet brilliant. First class acting, superb casting, a little bit of comedy. Some scenes are a little too much of a cliché, but who cares? The film totally delivered!
