Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.

Everything in this Movie is perfect...from begin to End.Pure romance and feelings, first-class drama, stunning power and atmospheric magnetism of relations! Many thanks to the actors, the director (him and as a screenwriter), the cameraman, the composer/sound technician, the entire staff who made this magnificent creation! For the sake of such beautiful Movies (with big letter!), people still want to watch Hollywood movies. Unfortunately, all less and less often..And RIP Antosha! You played here your best role in life, unfortunately, too short.

I gave this movie a ten for the simple fact if a movie I go into knowing nothing about and not having high expectations leaves me with a tear in my eye at the end then it deserves the rating. It was filmed beautifully, the characters were amazing the relationship between anton and Bérénice I found mesmerizing, the fact that she at the time of the films release was 35 and anton 25 a ten year age difference and on screen you could see she was slightly more of an older woman than him with his young boyish looks anyway but I think it made the film for me a 30 year old exciting. I mean who wouldn't want a beautiful woman like that loving you in such a way as was shown in this great movie. I loved the ending I loved the last 10 min build up to the ending. I love it was based around this boys dream of being a writer I loved the Concept shown near the end when he is reading the letter it shows you Bérénice noticing anton first in the steet really changes the way I saw the movie as the beginning you are led to believe that he spotted her first when that wasn't the case and I think this was shown in a brilliant way at the very right time in the movie, she had already seen him and was daydreaming about him just before he saw her and daydreamed about her before approaching and I just that a touching moment in this movie . The dad of anton played his part great as did the wife but he added something a tad more special to his role for me . It had touches of the movie before sunrise in their for me not the same movie but certain elements. Anyway if you like a different kind of basic love story and one with fantastic acting on both the main characters parts then this is an absolute must . Rip to the late anton yelchin.

This is overall a pleasant, and well-made film.Yet some of the changes in the character Brian are a bit sudden and dramatic, especially in his "conservative" attitudes and "ethics".It took Brian three weeks to overcome his "ethics" dilemma and start an affair with Arielle. Later, $6,000 gave him the "courage" to make a decision that would end Arielle's marriage, and destroy the home of her two kids. I assume that, by then, "ethics" is somehow, miraculously not an issue any more?! I wonder which was actually the "solution" to the "ethics issue", love or lust?Other than this small debacle though, Brian has the good fortune of living among decent people (I mean, all of them), even though some are mildly annoying (e.g., his parents). In real-life though, when finding out the son's girlfriend is a married French woman with two kids, some parents may start yelling, or at least stand up and leave. Admittedly, the noticeable absence of jerks does make this movie a more pleasant experience, but it is also a reminder of how different the real world is.

A 5 to 7 rating .... I do not judge movies for others or know what you might enjoy. I was so happy when this movie ended because there was no more time left to make any more mistakes.... however there were some few very enjoyable moments for me. So I gave it a 6...but I also agree with those who rated it lower. Beyond those moments I give it a 4 or 5 rating.... I ENJOYED HIS PARENTS...not the two lovers... The characters or script did not develop anything to show love and then all of a sudden they're willing to jump off forever and ever ....or not. A slap and a $250k check...right! I know the writer and the filmmaker wanted great love to be in the story but it was not anything I could see in this film. It could be a book report without images. They were telling a story but not showing it. They were reporting with little feeling. I found the movie story very unrealistic in my small world. Part of what an actor is TO ME are the roles they played before in other films. From a Star Trek bridge to romantic lead was a galactic stretch. If it were rewritten and redone as a light comedy, with a comedy minded director, it might be an OK cast . From my filmmaker's mind the cinematographic images were acceptable - safe. Mostly overcast soft lighting. Boring art wise. Often the lenses and full shots of her...were awkward looking. The story, and perhaps the way it was played were missing many things except boredom If I find myself doing other things while a movie is playing I know it is weak for me. I would not pay to own or rent this movie but on Netflix it's an OK watch. It is easy to be critical of what we do not enjoy fully. Easily rated 5 to 7
