Kill Switch (2017)

Well Deserved Praise

Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

I know that IMDB ratings (or any other collective ratings) don't always correspond with how I liked the title. There are titles rated 6/10 that I personally rated 8, and there are titles rated 8-9 that I rate as 5-6/10. But generally, I've learned that rating below 6.0-6.5 means there's something wrong with the title and I probably won't like it.After seeing this brilliant movie rated 4.9 I will no longer pay any attention to ratings. My faith in hamsters and their ability for critical thinking is completely and utterly lost. I haven't watched all the movies from 2017, obviously, but I have watched A LOT of movies in 2017, new ones as well as many truly good movies from earlier years. Kill Switch is by far the most clever, engaging and standing out. Its rating of 4.9 is mind-boggling. I understand not everyone might love the first-person perspective as much as I did, but there's nothing *wrong* with the movie. It's well-made, the acting is good, it's not at all low-budget.Also, it has a strong Half Life 2 vibe. If you like that game's aesthetics, check out Kill Switch.

The premise of the story is good, the special effects are good too. The acting isn't even all that bad. The story/plot/dialog is where the film falls down somewhat. The camera work (1st person for most of the film) is where it jumps off a cliff. Best review I saw was "good if you've run out of good SF films to watch". That about sums it up.

Actually the premise is pretty good. Special effects, cgi first rate but acting, especially the female lead - terrible. Impression I got was similar to a YouTube video shot with a GoPro. Jerky, not very illuminating and really distracting. The idea of an echo universe "created" but devoid of all life is interesting I guess, but surprise, it is a duplicate including all the bad actors. Oh and script! Did I mention dialog was really lame?? And "scientific" explanation for how the universe works supposedly by a world-renowned physicist was so lame a first physics major would know better. Story would have been better without the pseudo science explanation, well commercial really. All in all, even as a sci-fi fan I had a hard time watching this. If one has nothing better to do I suppose one could kill 2 hours but think I would rather play online poker lol.

This is bad. Very bad. Boring and bad. I have no further words. I was confused from the beginning. After watching the main character run around, in first person shooter view, for 5 or so minutes... at least I think it was him.. I proceeded to zone out. The acting made me cringe and then I fell asleep from boredom.
