Doug Harris is a loveable but socially awkward groom-to-be with a problem: he has no best man. With less than two weeks to go until he marries the girl of his dreams, Doug is referred to Jimmy Callahan, owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company that provides flattering best men for socially challenged guys in need. What ensues is a hilarious wedding charade as they try to pull off the big con, and an unexpected budding bromance between Doug and his fake best man Jimmy.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

So guy is going to marry a girl who we think loves him, (until conveniently right near the end after he met a stripper once) and suddenly she becomes a b word who we are supposed to be hoping he breaks up with. Then he does and gets with the stripper at the end. Reminiscent of it's big brother The Hangover where married guy breaks up with his ball and chain wife for a stripper he met once. Every guys dream must be to get with a stripper and have a relationship with them instead of their boring wives if the high ratings for these movies are anything to go by. As if strippers will be fun all the time and really love them after meeting them once. Throw in some hopeless friends and animals and really it is the Hangover boy movie Mach II.

In The Wedding Ringer Jason Gad plays chubby, nerdy Doug Harris, a successful tax attorney about to marry a woman who he thinks is out of his league, pretty blonde Gretchen. While Gretchen and her family are pouring over every detail of the wedding with their campy wedding planner, Doug realises he is in trouble. He does not have a best man, no groomsmen and his attempts to ring old acquaintances has proved to be fruitless. With the wedding less than ten days away, the wedding planner sends him to see Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart). He is the best man for hire. He can plan your bachelor party, be your best friend, deliver a cracking toast and after he is paid, he leaves. For Doug he has to deliver the impossible, the Golden Tux package and get seven groomsmen together as well as attending to the wedding preparations. The film is mildly amusing although predictable. Hart and Gad have a good chemistry, a bromance as you can see in the dance sequence in that wedding they attend to observe a terrible best man speech. It becomes clear as the film goes along that Doug's bride to be is a little shallow and may not be totally in love with him. The seven groomsmen look like a bunch of misfits and no way would Doug be friends with any of them. However Doug is a nice, caring guy. With his brief time with Jimmy he realises that he wants more in his relationship and wants the right woman. The film ends with a plane ride and a killer line from the fat guy from Lost!

In any movie if you see a sidekick rule, that has to be the Kevin Hart. He can handle the whole movie by himself and this film is a great example. It totally surprised me, I expected it to be an average film, but it was an awesome comedy. We have seen plenty of bride and groom and marriage related comedies, but this was a slightly different yet a fantastic treat.I don't think it was wonderful because of the jokes alone, but unique characters and actors who performed them were brought the fine outcome. I felt like I know what's coming, but the ending was simple and smart. Like always when I like a movie a lot I hope for a sequel to come and they should make one for this as well. It's a Kevin Hart's time as a comedian, his top box office films are all from the recent time, so he must make use of it and I am expecting his upcoming projects. This is a perfect weekend movie to have some laughs. Middle finger to the film critics. I definitely recommended it not only for the film fanatics but all. Who knows you might find it much better than the recent 'Get Hard'.7½/10
