In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.

Cory Finley's 2017 film debut Thoroughbreds its a piece of refined craft and style which manages to merge between thriller and black comedy in a very satisfying way, creating a dark tonal pitch which is played along a smart and kinda sorkinian dialgue who takes us inside the conflicted and dysfunctional mind of its characters. The Style its the Golden Rule If anything can be said about this movie its probably that it has an amazing amount of style in each one of its elements, starting by the story itself: the tale of a young pair of millennial yuppies who are trying to get rid of a despisable rich man who happens to be the stepfather of one of them. Since the beginning of the movie you can feel that it's going to be a weird but funny journey Following by the characters: Two young sophisticated ladies both intricately strange, whose own motivation is to get away with their plan no matter what, the both have two particular affected psyches which makes them a hell of a pair. And finally the aesthethical: the aesthtetic factor is one of the most importants, since the first.shot you can see and hear that wonderful universe of the bourgeoisie, which is filled with flaws under his perfection-like mask. Here is 7 reasons to watch Thoroughbreds: 1. Good Story 2. Neat Cinematography 3. Sardonic Tone 4. Fantastic Costumes 5. Crazy Music 6. Pretty Decent Acting 7. Lots and lots of Style

Don't let the "good" reviews convince you into watching it... like it did with me! Wasted 90 minutes of my life on this! I've seen bad movies where I thought "okay, at least some parts were entertaining" but this move has to be the worst movie I have ever watched in my life. I watched it right to the end with hope that it will end up being an okay movie, but god was I so wrong! If you don't believe me, go ahead and waste your time.

Two young women, nearly completely lacking any sort of redeeming qualities, resort to some very stupid, non visionary, boring bits of tomfoolery. The only redeeming quality this film had was Anton's performance, the step dad's genuinely convincing creepiness, and black hearted attitude, and a few of the sets. Other than that, there is not much to like here. The direction was fairly competent. But, the story was poorly executed, and the writing was typical Hollywood these days, written for adolescents. Nothing to challenge the imagination or intellect. In the end, this was supposed to be a diabolical conclusion. It was more like, who cares? I could see this coming from eight miles away. Boring. Vanilla.

Two minors, thoroughbreds but different kind of stallion, one is weird (antisocial & intelligent but let's just say weird), one is reckless and emotional. together, they're an explosion of characters that we can't relate but somehow understood. The film played like one of those 90s noir films, it started with one formula but ended up run from it but never too far, and never really give two cents about moral message, that's why people who said that this film is a critic towards the privilege people really couldn't find any specific detail for that purpose, the filmmaker did made fun of the upper class but only for fun, because it's supposed to be a fun film about characters. and what a character Amanda is, it's rare to portray an antisocial person without making them as a serial killer. this film is surprisingly meticulous and unique without being pretentious.
