The Wild Women of Wongo (1958)

n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

One of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.

I think that anyone reading this would agree with me that a movie with a title like, "The Wild Women of Wongo" could never be a good movie. The question to be asked instead is if this movie is bad enough to be considered some sort of camp classic. Unfortunately, I have to reveal that the answer to that question is no. Oh, there are some unintentionally funny moments. The fight and dance choreography is worth a few chuckles, there's an amusing fight with an alligator that appears to be dead or heavily drugged, and occasionally there is some choice dialogue. As a bonus, the movie throws in a scene of nudity, though the nudity is seen at such a distance that you don't really see anything. But in the end, the movie is a chore to sit through. The main reason why this movie isn't fun enough is that it's directed with low energy and considerable padding despite its 72 minute length. It actually feels a LOT longer than it actually is. As a result, viewers will frequently be squirming in their seats. The only real audience for the movie would be dedicated bad movie scholars, and I think even they will find the movie tough going at times.

I'm being generous giving it one star.Essentially, I've concluded that this was actually a Porn film with all of the Porn removed. It has to be. That can be the only explanation for the Put-On Performances, and the Shoddy Camera work as well as Choreography.The story has all of the contrivances of a bad porn film, that is certain. Along with the clear mismatch in ages for Father/Daughter relationships. (No, there are no subplots regarding that relationship, but it just doesn't work when you see it on camera.)Not even MST3K could make this watchable!

*Spoiler/plot- 1958, In the topical south seas there are two groups of tribal island people, men and women isolated. The viral men want to attract the beautiful women from their home island and attract the women from the island of ugly women.*Special Stars- Pat Crowley, Jean Hawksaw, Olga Suarez *Theme- Mankind always wants sexy womankind.*Based on- South seas island travelogues *Trivia/location/goofs- Filmed in Florida at the Coral castle roadside tourist attraction. This is a 'message' film. The female producer was a devote nudist and wanted to get the public to see the 'nudist' live positively.*Emotion- A somewhat forgettable for it's boring plot and amateurish scenes.

This 1950s bad movie classic takes us to Wongo, a tropical place (shot in Florida) where the women of Wongo have trouble with their men. When a very, very handsome stranger tells them about a place called Goona only a few miles away, where very, very handsome men are looking for beautiful companions, they are quick to consider their options...I think the scene when the daughter of the king pretends to be engaged in a "life-or-death struggle" with a small rubber crocodile must have been worth the admission fee alone, although the talking parrot made me cringe every time... must be on screen every 5 minutes at least. The "leopard skin" jungle outfits of the 1950s are naturally nowhere near what Tanya Roberts was allowed to almost wear in the 1980s, so I wonder how hot "Women of Wongo" really seemed in the 1950s? As far as the male models (the word "actor" would be out of place) are concerned, one of them actually rose to stardom afterwards: Ed Fury became Ursus in the Italian cinema series.
