At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
GIRL IN CAPTIVITY 2: HITWOMAN IN CHAINS is a low budget Japanese exploitation sequel that's better than it has any right to be. That doesn't make it a good film, far from it, but by the standards of the modern pinku film it passes the time quite amiably. This one's about a female assassin fighting against a serial killer and it covers themes of rape and murder. It's a dark and gritty production that explores societal issues as a backdrop and is well shot and acted by this sub-genre's standards. A pity, as usual, that the Amazon Prime version available for streaming is heavily censored.
