Orpailleur (2009)

An absolute waste of money
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
There is definitely an excellent idea hidden in the background of the film. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find it.
A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
It's so rare, a french adventure yarn. This film is forgettable but remains a good time waster. Totally ignored when it was released, I wonder how the producers, director and actors got paid at the end. And there are many of this kind of films...Anyway, this story of a young man seeking for his brother and father in the green Guyana hell, among undercover gold searchers - and also law breakers - is entertaining enough to keep you awake. But I preferred SIX CENT KILOS D'OR PUR, two years ago, starring Clovis Cornillac, describing almost the same backgrounds: Guyana forest and its gold seekers, hard boiled adventurers. Philippe Nahon stars here the leader of the bad guys. A performance just fit for him. This film remains classic, with no surprises at all. But why not ?
