Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!

This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

I have seen this movie three nights ago and I can honestly tell you I liked it. If you are wondering should you watch it or not - I would suggest you to consider the situation and circumstances the first. "Bongwater" is not kind of a movie you would like to see with your girlfriend or after a family gathering evening. From the other side - if you are sitting there with your friends looking for a movie to brighten your evening up, or if you are alone maybe - go for it! "Bongwater" seems like a typical stoner's' movie, but I believe it's much beneath that. Calling it such would be equal to calling "That 70s Show" typical stoner's' stuff, hence this TV series became sort of a cult. "Bongwater" is kind of a movie that is going to make you laugh out loud while tickling your imagination about the same thing you are laughing at. If you see through it couple of times I believe you will find it much deeper than it seems at the first glance.David, starred by Luke Wilson, is a small-pocket, short-run dope dealer. The movie follows his ups and downs with emphasis on his unhappy relationship with Serena. Things are turning from bad to worse as movie progresses, in emerging ironic manner. If you are in a mood to laugh, brace yourselves. I found whole movie quite funny myself. Few scenes really knocked socks off my feet and I didn't expect to see that kind of scenes inside a movie produced back in late 90s.Bongwater is a great stuff to watch on a guys' night or if you are alone and wondering what to watch to make you cheerful. I am taking it three points away for slightly blurry plot at few places, as you will see it yourself. You might lose your end of the rope here and there as the plot is running down the rabbit hole and story switches ups and downs unexpectedly fast.If you want to laugh - you got it. If you want to relax - you got that one as well. In case you are looking for some sort of "Da Vinci's Code" stuff - look elsewhere.

One of the saddest experiences is encountering a movie that has almost all the right things to be successful. It has all the ingredients, perhaps all the right perspectives, but not the requisite skills to bring it to a coherence that pierces. This is one of those movies, and its apt that is about characters whose lives are in the same uncooked limbo.About the actors. The men in this all went on to greater careers, essentially doing the characters they do here. The women. Well, their careers have all been stuck, and yet they do at least as well here.One of these is Alica Witt. She was sort a special icon for a while after her remarkable one line in Lynch's otherwise disastrous "Dune." Lynch was so smitten that when Sting did Figgis' first movie, he clued him in. Figgus subsequently used her as an icon in "Liebstraum," and she appeared similarly in "Vanilla Sky," as a cinematic marker.Here she is early in her career, playing a woman on the edge. Its a typical role for an ingénue, a free spirit constrained by society and her own foibles that revolve around men. Natalie Porman made this role work in "Closer." Mia Kirshner did so in the much more complex "Exotica." Witt almost does here, and somehow the failure touches more.Here she is before unadvisedly removing that bump in her nose, trying her guts out. She is raped late in the story, and the few moments after — so far as I know — are the high point of her adult career.There's one sequence in the film that does work. It doesn't involve Witt. Luke Wilson's character is a pot dealer. He takes his new girlfriend on a collection trip to a camping commune, led by Jack Black. She has replaced Witt, though Witt found her to sponsor a show of Wilson's sophomoric art.Once they arrive everyone takes acid. The girl and Black (who is terrific) hit it off. Wilson hallucinates his mother into existence, where she serves an iridescent lemonade. This whole sequence works, and I imagine it was the first one created. There's nuance, and I prefer to believe that all that follows — even the existence of the Witt character — is part of the trip.Ted's Evaluation -- 2 of 3: Has some interesting elements.

To Start in order to understand this movie you have expand your mind to that Of not only a pothead but a pot dealer, an artist, a drug user, a pagan, and most importantly a conservative. I have read many comments stating that the movie sucked...and that they were so disappointed by how awesome the cast was in a bad film. I feel that you have to stand back and view the film through the characters eyes. one at a time. Really the movie to me is about the constant struggle a habitual drug user has to grasping there own personal reality. sure the movie really had no plot, but dose life really have a plot? sure its presumed to be a comedy...and I'm sure that some people found it hilarious. Fans of movies such as "Half-Baked", "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", and "Orgazmo", should see this once in their lifetime. Don't be fooled by poor reviews. This movie is the best vehicle for Jack Black's obscure comedy I have seen to date (07/2005). Inter character relationships and general plot progression are over emphasized and simplified in a camp like fashion that, reminds me "Cheech and Chong". Sometimes this is done at a sacrifice to depth, but come on if I wanted to watch "Fight Club" or "Lord of the Rings" I would have. This movie only does one thing well, as so many movies do today, but that doesn't make it dull. I recommend this only to viewers who want to have some friends over, eat a big meal, get "into" the movie, and laugh at potheads being potheads.
