Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

Now, call me strange, but I like to watch the occasional gash movie and I have to say, this movie tops it.Yes, the script was so cheesy mice were asking where party was, the cgi looked like they were done on a ZX Spectrum, the acting was appalling but it was great. For gash, it was the gashest. Had to watch it over three nights just to fully appreciate how delightfully bad this movie was.You have to wonder who read the script and said "This is good.", as every rotten line in creation was stuffed into it. And the actors were obviously giving it their all, which just made it funny.Worth a watch if you want a laugh, but definitely not worth taking seriously, and definitely not worth getting annoyed about. Good grief, even the synopsis of the movie was telling you it was gash.

Sounded interesting, so out of boredom stuck the DVD in and pressed play.Immediately realised the budget was about £500. Which I realised they blew on a 'porn star' to dance around topless at some point for no reason. The CGI was obviously created by a 7 year old, and directed by a deaf/dumb/blind/retard.To say the acting was wooden would upset a lot of forests. I could have come up with a better cast using William shatner, Patrick Stewart and various other people picked up from rehab clinics and mental asylums.Has anyone reading this seen Midnight Chronicles?? Well that was slightly better! This film was more than disappointing, it was abysmal... I can generally watch low budget films and poke fun at the end, but when the credits roll say to myself.. "hmmm that had a good plot etc..>" this film... NO - no redeeming factors.Avoid the thing below. As if it was a disease down below.

Do you sometimes stay up late at night watching John Carpenter's 'The Thing' and think to yourself: "Gee, I really wish this movie had worse actors, no suspense, worse dialog, terrible CGI graphics, and was set in a deep sea ocean base." If you do, seek help. While this movie may be exactly what you're looking for, that is only indicative of problems you have as an individual.I am genuinely surprised that this movie did not get sued for copy-write infringement. Maybe it did and it was settled quietly. But I don't know how you can take the general premise of The Thing (doppelganger monster) and repackage it as "The Thing Below" and not get sued. Just saying. There were some enjoyable points: - The CGI is laughably bad. The first times people were killed by tentacles, I literally couldn't stop from laughing. - Traditional horror movie tropes, such as: * No matter how fast a monster seems to be going, it's still slower than a jogging actor * If no reasonable person would fall for a trick, then a person in this movie will fall for it. * A monster than has no obvious need for subterfuge due to is apparent invincibility still hides before striking. * They keep the story moving. Which is good, because if it ever slowed down, you would immediately recognize how much your time is being wasted and you would leave. On second thought, maybe this is a minus.So... bad movie, and only somewhat a "bad movie" for amusement purposes.

This movie and its twin Deep Evil (2004) (TV) are painful to watch.I won't go into too much detail or reiterate what others have written. I did watch the whole thing but my excuse is that I was watching this in the background while on the computer.I kept on having deja vu while this played and I just could not put my finger on it - cheesy CGI, less than enthusiastic acting, and some other details. The overall idea, some of the effects, scenery, bio-hazard outfits, black eyeballs, and "lumpy" skin all looked too familiar - I looked up the cast and crew for this movie and Ah ha! I had seen Deep Evil (2004) recently. They share so much: plot, effects, and one of the writers. Who knows maybe some of the footage got mixed up on the cutting room floor? Don't bother with the movie. Watch paint dry. (Or watch both movies and compare, for fun!)
