The film tells the story of documentary filmmaker Michael King (Shane Johnson), who doesn’t believe in God or the Devil. Following the sudden death of his wife, Michael decides to make his next film about the search for the existence of the supernatural, making himself the center of the experiment – allowing demonologists, necromancers, and various practitioners of the occult to try the deepest and darkest spells and rituals they can find on him – in the hopes that when they fail, he’ll once and for all have proof that religion, spiritualism, and the paranormal are nothing more than myth. But something does happen. An evil and horrifying force has taken over Michael King. And it will not let him go.

It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.

The Possession of Michael King: Michael King's wife dies in an accident after she follows advice from a psychic. wanting to debunk all psychics and believers Michael (Shane johnson)sets out to prove that neither God nor the Devil exist. Things don't go so smoothly though as he encounters a series of believers in Satan, necromancers and even a mortician who will provide body parts for use in dark ceremonies. At first the attempts seem farcical as police disrupt an attempted summoning in a graveyard. But during one of the rituals something seems to follow Michael back and his increasingly erratic behaviour worries his friends. Michaels sister Ellie (Ella Anderson) is looking after is daughter and is concerned for the child's safety.Nothing particularly new in this competent horror flick directed and written by David Jung (no relation) but it has more than a few scares with convincing effects. The tension gradually builds as Michael's possession occurs more more often and the spirit is more fully able to control him. Starting with dark eyes it leads on to levitation, telekinesis and abnormal strength. A vein of dark humour runs through the film especially helped by the necromancer/mortician (cullen Douglas. 7/10. It's the first question I asked myself after battling my way through this insanely idiotic film.OK, I'll pretty much watch anything and I like a lot of stuff that is probably questionable in the eyes of others, but what I never put up with or will ever understand is when the characters brought to life on screen do not behave in any way like a normal person would. And no, I'm not only talking about the ever more possessed Michael King character of the title. This is a guy who lost his wife tragically and now lives with sister (whose name I cant even remember 5 mins after the end) and daughter as they all get back on their feet. Michaels answer to his grief is to go about researching every dark occult ritual, black magic spell and cursed trinket available to him while filming his own every move 24 hours a day throughout the process, in order to prove that there just isn't a God/Satan. It's a flimsy kickstarter for his behaviour at best and given the audience no nothing of the guy before his loss, we cant feel why he is so motivated to go down this path. The documentary is so involved that he ignores his also grieving daughter to a point where you kinda feel like the sister is only there to babysit. The two females in the house with him barely say a word all film. As Michael slips deeper into strange behaviours and creepy voice projections/visions, there is no help from anyone close to him to try and get him the treatment he needs to recover or to put a stop to the negative impact the documentary is having on his life. When things are very obviously going too far, absolutely everyone in this film continues on like nothing can help him or that they don't even care enough to want to help. The girls just end up abandoning him, never call to check on him, never send someone around to check on him nor report his increasingly violent behaviour to the police. His co film maker, goes missing for large parts of the film and seems unfazed by the crazy stuff he has been witness to, not to mention the very quick unravelling of the bloke who is the subject of his film. When Michael himself hears voices telling him to do unspeakable things or when he wakes up from doing something he has no recollection of (like killing the dog) he not only continually ignores his own evidence and knowledge of the acts but continues to film them and proceed with the documentary like nothing even happened! To top this disaster off, there is no explanation given as to why we can hear the voices in his head on film, the attempted quiet/super loud audio jumps are just wrong every single time and the finale in the house made me laugh entirely. "I hope someone finds this film" - dude you're in the middle of middle class white suburbia not burkitsville forest..............There's no joy to be had in watching this, not even for an avid horror film buff (film buff in general) like me. If you're thinking movie and chill with your significant other, try something that wont make one of you want to run for the hills!!

Following the sudden death of his wife, the titular film maker decides his his next project will be about the search for the existence of the supernatural. As a guinea pig, he makes himself the experiment, allowing various practitioners of the occult to try the darkest spells and rituals they can find on him - in the hopes that when they fail, he'll once and for all have proof that the paranormal and it's surrounding beliefs are nothing more than myth. But something does happen.........It's that time of the month again people, your obligatory found footage movie with the word possession, and featuring an everyman with an everymans name as the lead role. And it's as bad as you would expect.MK in my opinion, deserves everything that happens to him during the film. What kind of selfish, irresponsible parent would do something that could have potentially fatal consequences.Has the man not seen the hundreds of films that this is blatantly ripping off? It's boring, never scary, and the fact that the makers have decided to crank up the volume when there are screams or white noise, is more of an annoyance than a cool gimmick, believe me, you'll be fiddling with the volume controls more than once. After the titular act happens, all he suffers is Ryan Reynold eye from Amityville Horror, and threatens his daughter while she is asleep. The film has no redeeming features, sadly, films like these though tend to gain a lot of unit sales on DVD, as the covers are quite endearing to the casual horror fan.So expect a plethora of these terrible movies for all eternity.Just keep reading my reviews, I'll try to protect you from the dretch...
