Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

Well, you have bad horror movies and you have BAD horror movies. And this one is BAD alright! You also have bad horror movies that actually becomes good and enjoyable to watch because they are so bad but no, this movie unfortunately is not one of those. It's such a silly movie, in which also not an awful lot is ever happening. The movie is like one big boring drag, until the driller-killer finally first shows up, which is really late into the movie. The movie however after that soon also turns from silly to sillier.The Slumber Party Massacre movies are perhaps the only chick-flick horror movies, also not in the least because all of them (expect for part IV, that from I have heard is more porn than horror.) are directed by female directors. So expect lots of jumping around, dancing, crying, yelling, silly laughing and halve naked men. It's sort of a nice touch for a change to see an horror movie made as a chick flick. It puts a whole other light on the slasher genre.The movie only gets its trills from the dream sequences, that are well made and provide the movie at times with a good surreal like atmosphere but real problem with those dream sequences is that they EXACTLY show what will happen all later in the movie. How stupid is that. So nothing in this movie will really come as a surprise anymore, also especially of course when you have seen the first movie you will know what is going to happen all. The movie however is letting you wait for so long until these things are finally happening all that you will have difficulties keeping interest throughout.The driller-killer himself is this time definitely more interesting and entertaining than the one in the first movie. This however in this case also means that a lot of the mystery and suspense of the character is taken away this time. Horror likely wise not a great move of course. But oh well, he still is the highlight of the movie, thanks to the wonderful enjoyable campy over-the-top acting by Atanas Ilitch. Silly, silly, silly. Oh and before I forget, the ending makes this movie even sillier.3/10http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/

This amusingly goofy sequel to the tremendously trashy early 80's slice'n'dice winner "The Slumber Party Massacre" eschews serious scares in favor of gleefully inane laughs. The killer this time is some scruffy and sleazy rock'n'roll singer psycho who has an enormous drill bit affixed to the end of his guitar. This nutzoid sub-Elvis Presley homicidal lunatic stalks and murders the members of an all-girl rock band spending the weekend at a fancy condominium. Writer/director Deborah Brock plays the whole ridiculous premise for cheerfully silly humor with the psychobilly singer making for a hilariously campy villain. Atanas Ilitch has himself a hammy field day as our gloriously gonzo fruitcake wacko (his absurd song and dance musical number "Let's Buzz" rates as a definite gut-busting comic highlight). Moreover, Crystal Bernard makes for a most fetching and appealing heroine as the sweet Courtney. Better still, ravishing redhead hottie supreme and perennial 80's slasher sequel victim Juliette ("Friday the 13, Part V: A New Beginning," "Psycho III") Cummins pops her top and bares her cute little breasts. James Cummins' nifty make-up f/x really hit the gruesome spot; watch out for the divinely disgusting moment when a cute chick's hideously gigantic zit bursts open and spews forth yucky pus all over the place. Good, tacky no-brainer fun.

The Slumber Party Massacre franchise has the rather unique standing of being one of the few T&A slasher films of the 80's that was often written and directed by women. When the original film hit in 1982, the phallic importance of the drill, and the lines the killer used, carried a rather cynical feminist undertone. So how could a movie that saw its killer dispatched in convincing fashion in the first film come back in a unique way? Its done very well with "Slumber Party Massacre II."First of all, let me say this: the trailer is the worst I've ever seen. If you have a chance to watch the DVD release, it includes the trailer...but to give you a run down of a couple of the lines: "When Courtney Bates and her friends get together, its more than a good time...its Slumber Party Massacre 2." Its even said in a light hearted way that made me cringe even more because I think in many ways, they meant this trailer to really sell the film.Okay, to the movie. The sister of the heroine in the first film, Courtney, finds herself plagued by dreams that, contrary to what she says, has nothing to do with her original ordeal. In the original, she saw a mass murderer with a independently powered drill kill the girls next door; in this one, its a Fonzi rip off, complete with the leather jacket, slicked back hair, and guitar- the only difference is that at the end of his guitar he has a drill.For pure horror fans, there is very little here- this film is tongue in cheek scary, and really scores more of a gore factor than a scare factor. The acting is for the most part sub par, the script is weak, and there are moments in the film which will make you cringe at how cheesy they are.When Courtney and her band go up to the lead singer's parents condo for the weekend, this driller killer leaps out of Courtney's dreams and into reality, dispatching each of the band members and their boyfriends until only Courtney is left.I'd hate to ruin the surprise, but the ending is so obviously a doll house being penetrated by a drill that all you can do is chuckle.Now this would lead most to believe that I hate this film, but actually I don't. This is renaissance 80's cheesy horror, plain and simple. Not anywhere near as scary as the first, but original for what it is, and unpretentious in its cheese.In short, if you're someone who can appreciate the cheese of some of the slasher genre of the 80's, you'll enjoy this. And watch the trailer, if you'd like to have a real chuckle- its awful! If you take 80's slasher horror too seriously, or expect you'll see something as original as "Halloween" or "A Nightmare on Elm Street," this one is not for you.

Not as much nudity in this one. Interestingly enough, these films are a byproduct of '80s culture, not a main point. There's something free and surreal about the classic slasher, and this one really lets its hair down with a rocker phantom drill-killer, bit fixed inconceivably into his flair guitar. Let's go this way - see this movie and think past your gut reaction to the last half. When it's over, consider the elements as they've been presented. Movie starts out very quietly, and then uses the "burp" machine to make its point - little spastic moments of hallucination, always suffered by the main character. These build rapidly into a crescendo of unlikely, unexplained events. They teeter into a final moment of couch potato misery unlike any I've witnessed in a long time. This film tries, but ultimately fails, and altogether sucks. But that's just my opinion.
