I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

like many made for TV 'SyFy' movies this one comprises an implausible plot, indifferent acting, meaningless dialogue and various dodgy SFX.However two things struck me in particular about this movie.1) The plot is even more nonsensical than is 'normal' even for this type of film, and...2) The female lead just looks ill throughout the film.I came to the second conclusion without knowing anything about Brittany Murphy; to me, in this film she looks grievously underfed, with a sallow complexion (even with make-up on) and was clearly struggling with a nervous tic (and indeed to act at all) in every other scene. So when I looked her up on the internet(during an ad break) and found that she's tragically died only weeks after this film was made, I wasn't all that surprised. If she looked that bad on film, the poor lass must have been in a really bad way. Another victim of her profession, or something...?.Anyway this film is unbelievably bad by any standards, and I would have found it hard to sit through in any event. As it is, I could hardly bear to watch any of the second the second half because it is just no fun seeing people who clearly should have been in hospital (or something) trying to act.An unintentionally tragic film.

Truck Driver . . . ."I've got a quake on my tail!" This is a just one of many memorable lines from this testimony to the scientific dumbing down of America, and particularly American Cinema. Years ago, I thought that "Volcano" was as bad as it could get, wasting the acting chops of Tommy Lee Jones and providing insult after insult to those with a general appreciation of the way the earth works. But no, SyFy has provided us with a series of cataclysms (and I refer to their movies, not the storyline) that reach depths never before attempted. No effort was expended to bring realism to this picture. Therefore it produces no emotions in the viewer, besides shame that the time was wasted. Previous reviewers have a fine job taking this film apart, and I could take each scene and provide scientific criticism, but why? When there was no time spent by Paul Bales and Asylum, why should I?The film is rated PG-13 for disturbing images, how accurate. To those actors whose names appear in the cast, I honor your efforts and your need to make a living. I hope that for the rest of your lives you can avoid associations with pictures like Megafault.Never thought I'd look forward so much to the next showing of Dante's Peak.

Wow, that was bad, bad, bad. It was one of those movies that was so bad, that it would be faster to list what was good rather than what was bad.The bad - acting, writing, plot, character development, SGI, basic scientific principles. My favorite idiotic comment was when the military man proudly exclaimed that the enemy wouldn't even know that a satellite-induced earthquake was actually an attack (as opposed to an act of God), since the "ice turns back into water". Um, don't you think that they would notice the GIANT COLD BEAM coming out of the sky??!!?? The good - Yep, just like some parts of a standardized test, that line "is intentionally left blank". No redeeming qualities at all. I can't even justify giving it a one out of ten. I was forced into being that polite because the system won't let me give the score it deserves.Suddenly, Howard the Duck doesn't seem that bad after all.

WOW!!!! Bad acting. Preposterous plot. Impossible science. Horrible dialogue. Low grade special effects. Hyper-melodrama. Padded scenes. More technical, geographical and continuity errors than can be counted. Yep, this one had all the ingredients for a "B" movie. I love the "B" movies of the 50's and 60's because they are bad and know they are bad, but are presented just for the shear fun of it. Had this made-for-TV movie had that attitude, I would have been all for it. Unfortunately, this one wants to be serious. Now it's just BAD.Even my ten-year-old spotted the problems with the faults chasing cars; the untested sonic wave machine conveniently already up on a satellite ready to save the planet; and the fact that huge quakes were seen destroying buildings, yet when the characters were on the street, there never were any broken windows or debris in any of the backgrounds to suggest something catastrophic had just happened.By the time this one ended, I really was scratching my head as to why anyone invested money to make this thing.
