Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.

All that we are seeing on the screen is happening with real people, real action sequences in the background, forcing the eye to watch as if we were there.

What on earth have I just watched?!! OK, I knew this movie would be bad after the first 10 minutes. Brittany Murphy looks like a living doll, her lips are huge, her hair almost had a life of its own due to the amount of gel, the makeup is just too much. And her acting...for crying out loud, it was awful. Don't get me wrong, I know she was a great actress, but in this movie she just gave up, as if she knew this was so bad it wasn't worth the effort. Mimi Rogers and Jay Picket were the only ones worth watching.Everything else was atrocious, the plot, the lights, the unnecessary close ups, the OST was cheap and out of the context, everything was low budget and reminded me of a Fox Life movie. It's not even good for a popcorn time. This movie is bad and it shouldn't have been made.

I watched this film only to see Brittany Murphy and because the plot summary sounded interesting. As it turned out, those were the only reasons to watch this movie. While there are a few holes in it, this plot could make for a reasonably good film. There are some parallels in this story to Hitchcock's "The Lady Vanishes", just substitute boyfriend for lady and change the setting from a train to a hospital. However, all similarities to Hitchcock's classic end there, especially when it comes to quality.Murphy plays a young woman, Mary Walsh, who takes her boyfriend, Kevin Peterson (played by Dean Cain), to have outpatient surgery on his leg. She goes to the cafeteria while he is prepped for surgery, which is supposed to last about an hour. Several hours later, he's nowhere to be found, she's frantically searching, and no one believes her story. At this point, everyone begins to think that she is crazy and Mary even begins to have some doubts. The only other person who gives her the benefit of a doubt is Detective Franklin (Jay Pickett). Is she crazy or is there something more sinister at work here?Although not one of her top outings, Murphy does her best with the material she has, which wasn't much. There are two other 'name' actors in the film, Dean Cain and Mimi Rogers. Having seen Cain in a few things, this wasn't one of his better performances in my opinion. As for Mimi Rogers, her considerable acting talents were wasted in the role of the hospital administrator, Ms. Markham. Of the supporting players, Jay Pickett does a credible job as Detective Franklin. That pretty much leaves the weight of the movie, and its considerable flaws, solely on the shoulders of Ms. Murphy. Unfortunately, it just doesn't work. While the plot was okay, I thought the writing was weak at best. At times, the actors appear to be waiting for each other to come up with a better line than the ones they had to say next. In the end, there is just too much wrong here to recommend this to anyone but Brittany's fans and those who have nothing else to do for an hour and a half. All of us who enjoyed her acting and remember her at her best will miss Brittany. Although most of her later roles were not great, I still thought she had potential for a career revival as she matured as an actress into her 30's. Sadly, she never got the opportunity and her fans will only have fond memories of how good she could be.

I gotta say, I love movies where there is some suspense mixed in with the main character going seemingly crazy. This was Murphy's last movie and she looked like she was completely sick in this movie. Although the movie had a good plot with a great theme, I just couldn't concentrate and get pass the horrible look of Brittany Murphy. She looks like a trailer trash junkie thrown in a business suit! Only an idiot would believe that she was actually an executive banker! Throughout the movie, her hair looks as though it hasn't been washed in weeks, she has huge bangs under her eyes, she is as thin as a rail and the big "OMG, WTF were they thinking" part was her badly blonde-dyed and bushy eyebrows! Why did they have to make her blonde. Was it really necessary for the part? I thought it was really weird that after dating someone for 4 months you don't have any pictures with them and none of your friends and family have ever seen this "mystery" lover. This was the best concept of this movie. I can honestly say that the movie is great (I've seen it more than once) but the acting and look of Murphy bombed! If you can stand to sit through watching a nasty looking Murphy for 2 hours, then go for it. It's sad that this was her last movie look!

I am sorry to say butt..... This movie should have out respect for B.M been destroyed. B.M looked so malnourished and was so clearly not on her game. The movie was just so very, well-ll.... NOTHING!! ALL actors "awful". Movie most likely done on a dime with B.M out of it and slurring, she could barely keep herself standing and couldn't focus. It was really hard to watch. Not worth the two hours of time you'll never get back. Just a very sad send of for a once really good actress. Just say no to this movie it was well...................................so sad and extremely HARD to watch. ...................................................... Why No one stopped this movie from getting anywhere at all .................. thats another WHY???????????
