Tied for the best movie I have ever seen
Really Surprised!
I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
The first must-see film of the year.
Just saw Ethan Hawke promoting his new movie on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallow (June 15, 2017). Can't believe he's 46. Well it got me reminiscing about his first movie, Explorers. So here I am. It may not be an epic flick but it is a classic. The movie My Science Project falls in the same category. Watching Explorers takes me back to my childhood.
There are many reasons a person could watch this movie. Young hackers, young astronauts, young sci-fi students, people who dive into their dreams... are we alone?? In this movie, the answer is there for all of them. It is an awesome movie, one of the great movies that touches the dreamer. For me, it was the ability of one of the kids in particular that made this a must watch from when I was a kid, even until now with my own children I had them watch it. The computer aspect of one of them making a logic / motherboard we will say out of the diagrams of one of the other kids dreams. It was awesome! The sphere that was created from a board hooked to a computer then was given x,y coordinates and destination information was just AWESEME!!! A must see for any and all ages. Hang on tight while you go on an adventure to... well... I wont spoil it for you. Great Movie!
I watched it just for River, and god this movie is so cute I wanna die. From the massive cuteness of River's face and glasses, their cute childish mistakes and worries to the aliens which are hilarious. Ethan Hawk and the other kid were really good as well, but River, man, he's amazing. It's a shame it didn't get the attention it deserve at the time, and I'm glad people are recognizing its brilliance now.
ExplorersSending children into outer space is a great idea because it gets them off of Earth. However, if the kids are as intelligent as the ones in this sci-fi movie then they can stay.Inspired by a dream he had of a computer circuit that would enable space flight, Ben (Ethan Hawke) approaches his whiz kid pal Wolfgang (River Phoenix) to help build a replica.Eventually, the pair creates an airtight force field capable of flight and protecting them from the harsh elements of space.Employing another friend (Jason Presson) to construct a spacecraft, the trio treks into the unknown universe, discovering some harsh truths along the way.An obvious product of its 1985 environment, this lesser known teenager space adventure has enough pseudo science, subversive sexuality and absurdity to deserve cult status. What's more, since there is no night or day in space, child labour laws do not apply.Yellow Light vidiotreviews.blogspot.ca
