When lovelorn Michael arrives in Berlin to return a set of keys to his ex-girlfriend, Gabi, as an excuse to see her again, he finds her apartment empty save for a couple of plumbers making repairs to the central heating. Just as Michael learns from the plumber’s apprentice, Harper, that Gabi has popped out for a while but will return soon, the apprentice is attacked by his boss who has unexpectedly and inexplicably transformed into a raging madman. Together, Michael and Harper manage to bundle the crazed plumber out of the apartment and barricade themselves safely inside. Within minutes, they find themselves trapped in apartment block under siege from a horde of similarly insane people, apparently hungry for human flesh.

Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

Rammbock otherwise known as Berlin Dead and Siege Of The Dead is a German zombie movie which tells the very generic story of the beginning of a zombie outbreak but does it competently enough to be passable. It follows two strangers who are forced to barricade themselves inside a block of flats and try to survive. Basically your usual tropes so don't expect anything original here.It plays the realistic angle and reminded me of the 28 Days Later (2002) movies despite these actually being zombies. It looks okay, the characters are passable but it's so unoriginal it made my balls rattle. It really is paint by numbers stuff so if you like generic zombie films this may very well be what you're looking for. Sadly after countless zombie epics including the more recent Train To Busan (2016) and Wyrmwood (2014) I do find myself expecting more. The Good:Realistic approachGenerally passable stuffThe Bad:No originality at allLead bounces from annoying to patheticThings I Learnt From This Movie:Bent fork heads don't make the best projectilesFork desecration is a womans primary concern during a zombie apocalypse

part zombie movie and part love story, this tells the tale of Michael, who goes to Berlin to return his ex girlfriends keys, in the hope he can convince her to reconcile.unfortunately for Michael, his trip coincides with a virus outbreak that turns its victims into bloodthirsty homicidal maniacs. although the infected are of the fast moving 28 Days Later variety, there are a few interesting ideas here that set this apart from the usual zombie flick.the infected can be held at bay by the flash from a camera due to the fact they are photosensitive, plus, the virus itself can be held off by sedating yourself until the body's own immune system eliminates it altogether.admittedly the movie is rather short at 63 mins and some of the acting and dialogue is terrible, but these are minor quibbles, and i'm left to wonder what the makers could have done with more time and a better budget to play with.

I enjoy many horror movies however, the zombie genre is far beyond overused. I applaud the efforts to bring a different twist however it ultimately fails because it is so uneven, and the characters do not react as someone in a survival situation. This is not 'blast'em and run' this is 'These zombies used to be our loved ones, don't hurt them', which is OK, however I doubt you'd embrace someone attempting to bite you or tear you limb from limb regardless of who they are. The zombie reactions are inconsistent, sometimes swarming to loud noises, sometimes to the slightest tap but not always, so which is it? The main protagonist is extremely wimpy and just plain weird and definitely not funny. I couldn't find any humor in this very short movie, but perhaps it was lost in translation. Recommend only to those attempting to see every zombie ever made, regardless of entertainment value.

In recent years the zombie genre has become as bloated as a week-old corpse in water, with even the most craptastic of low-budget, shot-on-video efforts somehow shambling their way onto DVD. Stripper zombies, zombie vampires, sexy zombies, Nazi zombies, ninja zombies, domesticated zombies, and zombies vs _______ (fill in the blank with whatever you like; if it hasn't already been done, it probably will be soon): the list of gimmicks used by film-makers to try and distinguish their undead film from the next one in the horde is endless.Rammbock, however, proves that you don't need a gimmick to make a memorable and effective zombie movie: it's a character driven tale pared back to the absolute basics, using the the classic ingredients of a single location with a few people trapped within, and a couple of dozen frothy mouthed ghouls hungry for human blood waiting eagerly outside. The script isn't particularly innovative, offering very little that hasn't been seen before in umpteen similar films, but the whole thing is done so well that this matters not a jot.Director Marvin Kren's focus is on the tension created by the outbreak, his survivors struggling to come to terms with their unexpected situation and the loss of loved ones. There's very little in the way of graphic gore on display, but the horror is still very real, thanks to the excellent performances, the convincing dialogue and Kren's admirable direction. At just under an hour, this film gets straight down to business and provides solid zombie entertainment right down to the last moment—with not a ninja, Nazi or stripper in sight.7.5 out of 10, rounded up to 8 for IMDb.
