If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

TOMORROW, WHEN THE WAR BEGAN is another bland young adult film based on a novel which seemingly has no originality whatsoever. A group of teenagers go camping in the woods in Australia when their country is invaded and World War 3 begins. They then fight back, guerrilla-style. Yep, it's the same old story of RED DAWN, that 1980s hit about Russia invading America, playing out yet again and just as insipid as the RED DAWN remake. The acting is fairly weak, aside from an ever-feisty Caitlin Stasey who has grown up a lot since NEIGHBOURS. The endless emoting quickly sours the viewer while the refusal to name the invading countries smacks of political correctness (I'm guessing the coalition is made up of China and North Korea). Worst of all is the bland direction, with nothing you'll remember and nothing to stand out from beginning to end.

I enjoyed this Ozzie version of Red Dawn, it is similar in many ways, but an Australian take e.g. more laid-back. The likelihood of an Asian invasion has been a low level threat for half a century; a sort of a boogeyman for the Austalian populace, after the attack on Darwin during World War II.I reckon it would make a good TV series, as due to it's box office loss; they are unlikely to make a sequel. Plus, I am not sure what they spent all the money on, it could probably have been made for much less. This is the second time I have seen this movie; after the first time I decided to read some of the books. If you liked Red Dawn, you will enjoy this movie; I believe that it is suitable fare for all the family, except perhaps for the very young.

I wasn't 35 minutes into this 'movie' when I started to realized how stupid it was, and I really gave it a chance. I mean, it's a clear rip off of Red Dawn (1984) to begin with, but stopping to stare like a deer into a search light, pausing on the street to argue when your life depends on being discrete and simply slow to react when someone says "let's go"! Spread out and go to different rooms, then look out the window as the helicopter shines it's searchlight into your faces. Take your time getting out of the house as the helicopter marks your position for a bombing run. You would think that if you were fighting for your life, the lives of your family, friends and country that you would do everything you could to defeat the enemy but sadly that is not the case here. Talking about relationships exposed on a battlefield with your only line of communication switched off is simply stupid. Even though the enemy has given away their position by walking behind your stolen vehicle with their tactical lights on giving you ample warning time.. smmfh! Stopping for an emotional moment between you and your one night stand only to be shot in the side instead of doing the rational thing and running for your life. Hell, the enemy was on foot and wearing body armor! In summation, I would like to say that this movie was utter bull****, but since not many films come out of Australia then it is better than nothing.. I think.

Started to watch this because of a maxim review. Told me it was an exhilarating ride of a movie. I was interested so I watched the trailer. It's nothing more than an Australian version of red dawn made for teens by teens. The original red dawn was outstanding, the remake was pretty good this movie falls somewhere between the butt crack and giblets of movies. Enough said. I watch a lot of movies and can tell you this is a bullet I dodged. I am so tired of these low budget quickie movies that are just put out to get something out there. If you can't make a decent movie, then why try at all? This movie is worse than sharknado. Get my point?
