It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

Ed Burns has "Confidence" in this 2003 film also starring Dustin Hoffman, Andy Garcia, Rachel Weisz, Paul Giametti, and Donal Logue.Burns is Jake Vig, a professional grifter who, with the help of his usual crew, has just swindled a ton of money from a mark. Unfortunately for Jake and his group of merry men -- which includes two LA cops - the mark was an accountant for a crime boss, Winston King. Not a nice guy. And two of Jake's men wind up dead.Jake doesn't have much choice but to go to King and offer to pull off another huge job that will not only make King a fortune but pay him back. He chooses a banker, Morgan Price, and for this job, he brings in Lily (Weisz). Then Jake finds out an old Federal nemesis of his (Garcia) is following his every move and determined to bring him down. For what it is, "Confidence" is an okay movie with good performances. It doesn't break any new ground but it's entertaining. And of course, it has the ubiquitous twists. Nowadays there's no suspense or thriller without a few twists. I will say, one I could predict, the other I didn't.

I was just kicking back feeling lazy when this fine movie appeared on TV. I figured it was a cheaply done film , but having no other use for my time I decided to give it a chance. Turns out the movie eclipsed my expectations a thousand times over. Not only was the acting good, the plot well put together, but the twist was amazing. Movies like Oceans Thirteen should take a notepad, a pen, and copy down how this movie was done because there is a lesson to be learned. Money and big actors may attract the crowd ,but it doesn't make a good movie. This my friend lacks the big actors and money, but its A GREAT MOVIE! I give this a 9/10 and i'm sure you will to.

Enjoyed this film concerning a professional con Jake Vig (Edward Burns), "The River King", who gets in real trouble with Dustin Hoffman,(The King) and has to repay a debit in a big hurry. Dustin Hoffman plays a real bad character who will smile and kill you at the same time or choose to torture you with slow painful results. Rachel Weisz,(Lily), "The Fountain" is an outstanding con-artist herself and very sexy and gets deeply involved with a big heist worth millions of dollars. There is some humor in the night club that The King owns between two so called sisters who have very strong sexual desires for each other and drive the poor King crazy. Great acting by the entire cast and all moving at a rather fast pace. Enjoy.
