I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

If only Columbia Pictures and it's associated studios could have waited and made this film after Deadpool (2016) and Logan (2017). This movie should of been rated "R", with all the blood, gore, violence, sex and filled with every curse word under the sun and blessed with a solid storyline and exceptional director. Nevertheless, whilst it is cheesy, with poor dialogue, a God awful script and the plot is pretty basic, it is actually an enjoyable film. The Good: (1) The Special Effects for the Ghost Rider. Whenever he is on screen, blazing on his motor cycle with his flaming skull, the film picks 10 fold. The part where he jumps of the skyscraper or when Cage morphs to the ghost rider is fantastic. But those parts are far and few between in the film. (2) The A-grade actors in a (essentially) B-grade film. What this means is, there are a number of surprisingly good actors ( Nicholas Cage as Johnny Blaze and Eva Mendes as Roxanne, Sam Elliot as the Caretaker) which bring their all to a poor script. Yes the dialogue is laughable when it is delivered, but that is what makes it so enjoyable. Raquel Alessi could easily have been a Eva Mendes younger twin sister. (3) The Western tones interwoven in the film is great. The Bad: (1) The villains are so weak. Peter Fonda as the Devil gets a pass. Only because it's really good to see him on screen. BUT Wes Bentley, as main nemesis Blackhearts should of walked when he read the script. He has some of the movies worst dialogue. Sadly, unlike Cage and Mendes, he simply does not have the "knack" for delivery and his lines are dreadfully executed. (2) People who put a lot of themselves in film usually indicate they love the source material, so it is very difficult to understand if Mark Steven Johnson was either a writer/director with no balls to stand up to the studios or it was simply a job to him, (3) The plot is a no brainer. Boy loves girl. Boy mets Devil. Boy makes a deal with the Devil. Boy loses Girl. Boy becomes a flaming skull. Boy meets girl again. Thankfully the Ghost Rider, is a marginally better written script, then most Hollywood blockbusters such as Star Wars:The Clone Wars. The Ugly: (1) The biggest problem is Nicholas Cage as Johnny Blaze. In a nutshell....he was cast wrong. Look a the actor Matt Long who played an 18 year old Johnny Blaze to then 42 year old Johnny Blaze played by Nicholas Cage. The film really is asking a lot for the audience to believe they are the same person.Don't over analyse the film too much, because it create lofty expectations. Films like the Ghost Rider is a guilty pleasure, with great action, a uncomplicated plot and exceptional special effects. Hopefully this franchise gets a robot in the future and upgraded to "R" rating. PS: was going to grade the film at 7 BUT that awesome soundtrack song at the end credits by Spiderbait reworking the song "Ghost Riders in the Sky" pushed it to 8

Ghost Rider came out (2007) I loved this film in the cinema its one of marvel lesser known film in 1h 54min | Action, Fantasy, Thriller Directed Mark Steven Johnson who done the unloved daredevil this a fine job of mixing cgi with live action When the motorcyclist Johnny Blaze finds that his father Barton Blaze has a terminal cancer, he accepts a pact with the Mephistopheles, giving his soul for the health of his beloved father. But the devil deceives him, and Barton dies in a motorcycle accident during an exhibition. Johnny leaves the carnival, his town, his friends and his girlfriend Roxanne. Years later Johnny Blaze becomes a famous motorcyclist, who risks his life in his shows, and he meets Roxanne again, now a TV reporter. However, Mephistopheles proposes Johnny to release his contract if he become the "Ghost Rider" and defeat his evil son Blackheart, who wants to possess one thousand evil souls and transform hell on earth. Hell Is About To Be Unleashed with an enormous budget$110,000,000 (estimated) it had an Opening Weekend:$52,022,908 and it grossed 130millin American and world wide gross$315,802,596 Nicolas Cage is hilarious. He has a face that is like a silent movie actors and I kept thinking about movies like Nosferatu or Phantom of the Opera. He's been waiting for years to play this role and you can really feel how much fun he's having just going crazy, especially in the first scene when Johnny Blaze turns into the Ghost Rider. The movie just borders on the edge of campy but always manages to pull itself back before going to far. And Sam Elliott. It's got Sam Elliot. What more could you ask for? His curse has become his power with astonishing special with the character is an uncompromising bad ass johnny blaze suits nick cage down to a tie over the top character he was only a teenage stunt biker when he sold his soul to the devil peter Fonda character years later johnny is a world renowned daredevil by day a and a ghost-rider at night of marvel back catolougue legend as t devil sidekick bounty hunter he is looking after evil souls on earth and throwing to hell but in a cruel twist of fate johnny comes back to his first love eve Mendez who is a journalist johnny blaze thinks he might still have some chance if he can beat the devil and win his soul back to do so he will have to defeat black heart the devils son played by wes Bentley traces of around with detectives gathering info as they wreck the city and ghost-rider making a mess of the roads with his flames from his bike and his motley crew come for ghost-rider and leave hell bent on getting what he wants his wayward son whose plotting to take over his fathers realm and collide hell with earth unless ghost-rider can think of a plan in time.and with the caretaker taking care of his soul he is also on one last ride to hell with his double act with the ghost-rider in the old west

(40%) One of those movies in which the makers spent ten times more time and effort in one single effect sequence than the entire script, as this has some of the very worst lines of dialogue in any film outside of the Star wars prequels. Nic Cage really earned his pay cheque here not through his performance but through his epic level of fitness, there's hardly an ounce of lard on him, which again doesn't really add anything to this hollow, somewhat silly film. It's best to think of this more as a big budget B- movie than the mass of other stronger Marvel movies. This isn't anything to really shout about, though I largely found it to be harmless fun and as such I highly doubt this is anywhere near to being the worst comic book effort.

Plot is cheesy, visual effects so so. How did they spend so much money into this movie and still does not have any sense? Why Nicolas Cage accepted to play this role. He is one of my favorite actors. Look at the movies he has done. The Rock, 8mm and so many others and then what? He makes this movie? What the hell is happening. Maybe for a Ghost rider Fan point of view this movie is good but for me it was not. It was cheesy all the way through , no suspense, not a real cool action sequence. I mean look at the movie BLADE, that is an action movie based on a great hero. How the hell did they spend 110.000.000 dollars budget on GHOST RIDER? I rate it 5 and not 3 only because I love Nicolas Cage too much AS AN ACTOR and he still did a decent job in this movie but...rather than this the movie for me it is not OK.
