Crappy film
This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
Sometimes we just need some little movie to cheer us up.
I thought that this film was a really good teen romance film which added something more than the normal romance storyline's due to the boy Elliot having been dying due to his body not excepting Earth. I also thought that it was good having him look for his father throughout it all as well as it showed that Elliot was human and he craved to have a family like everyone else. I did think there wasn't enough sci-fi in this however due to him being from Mars even though his parents were from Earth and think showing some more of that would have been a great addition.
Not everyone can see that and they think is about sci-fi but is actually an romance. Good for who wants see something lovely with a little touch of science. Dont be stupid thinking it was a big film about science and you are not an astronaut not even a scientist.
Those giving this movie low ratings, seem to think all movies are made trying to win academy an award and bash any movie that is just good fun. That's just dumb. This is just a fun teen, romance, adventure movie. Sure there are parts that are totally unbelievable, but that's true of all adventure movies. These same critics would probably rate a Bruce Willis film where he jumps off a 10 story building into a swimming pool full of man-eating sharks, fights off the sharks with his pocket knife, climbs back up the outside of the building, creates a bomb from a potato and throws it at an incoming helicopter to save his girlfriend at the last minute as a great movie. Sometimes movies are just supposed to be fun to watch. This is one of them.
