Though Kevin has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher, there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

What a remarkable film! The premise of the film seems quite superficial at first but as the layers are peeled back there's so much more beneath. It's a horror film without special effects gore, an action flick without any car chases. A high-tension psychological thriller for viewers with active imaginations, who don't need to be spoon-fed every explanation. The acting is top-notch, the script sympathetic, the cinematography and set fantastic, and the music/sound subtle enough not to be noticed, consciously, while building the tension inexorably. It's gripping, un-turn-away-able.Seriously impressive. I don't give 10's lightly.

Slight spoilers for those of you who haven't figured out the twist yet, even if it's pretty obvious. I'm gonna try and keep this short and sweet : this movie isn't a mess, but isn't flawless neither. The acting of our two leads (James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy) is pretty solid but the side characters (especially the Psychiatrists) could use some polish. The script is interesting and well crafted, but sometimes feels a bit convoluted and strange and strange for some. Some of the scenes in this movie ask the viewer to suspend their disbelief and accept the some-what strange interaction between the characters. " Why couldn't they hear the scuffle behind the car?" "Why did it take that long for McAvoy to notice Taylor-Joy in the car?" "Why isn't she fighting back?" "Why is that train empty?" those aren't the question the viewers should be asking, it's not the point. This isn't supposed to be a realistic portrayal of abduction nor an analytical piece on people with mental illness. This is a movie about two people finding strength in trauma, one of them in a perverse and unhealthy way.Again, this movie is about trauma, not mental illness. Lastly, the camera work was a bit shabby at first (the first scene seemed to me like a slightly better version of the train scene in unbreakable, shaky and poor), but stabilized as the movie went along and ended up really good by the end. I especially liked the transitions between the present and the flashbacks They never get in the way and enhance the dramatic tension.Overall good movie. I wasn't a fan of the BIG twist at the end and the third act seemed a bit rushed, but still a good watch.
