it is the rare 'crazy' movie that actually has something to say.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.

Great movie until you realize it's another 'it was all just a dream' cheats. Too many of these movies throughout history make you feel like you've been ripped off because the author lacks the imagination to resolve the film with a well-devised ending. Cheap gimmick spoils what could have been - and should have been - a quality film. Sad.

I have read what all the Big critics had to say, and me just a first time watcher say this. Its very suspenseful !! I found myself going back over it to see clues I missed the first time. After all said and done I think the "twists" were pretty good. The one thing that anyone fails to talk about was the fact that while the "writer" was sitting at his desk he hears a woman scream then a gun shot. If he is the Killer how was he at two places at once? Secondly the "bad guy" would not let the writer out of his sight ... So when could the writer ever leave the house to commit such a crime? I like when a movie leaves me a bit baffled and I have to go back to see clues I may have missed. So to the Big Critics you tore up this film but really it was quite exciting to watch and fun to try and figure out. .

I found this movie by browsing, with little hope for something that kept me on the edge of my seat, like this film. For some reason, I'm glued to the screen during films showing likable characters in awful, frightening situations that make their survival seem questionable - very uncomfortable for me, and under no circumstances am I tempted to turn it off. As in Nocturnal Animals - I don't recommend it, but I really, really enjoyed it. You may, and you may not. This may contain spoilers, and I'm so glad I didn't read reviews before I watched this film. Most of the reviewers write a partially accurate description of the events and characters. But please don't believe the reviews that seem to sum it up and close the "case". We all have a unique perspective, and I don't think this film can be dismissed with "the ending ruined it" or "should have skipped the last 3 minutes". It's true that once you think you get that twist, it has yet another twist.....but the ending isn't as clear as most of you believe. For those of you that didn't wonder why Paul was sitting on a sofa typing on a typewriter - a TYPEWRITER - for the first time ever. I'd make a suggestion that this should be considered. He was even using the one- finger method, when in the scenes prior, his fingers moved fast and seamlessly over the computer keyboard. Jack and Paul are each adamant about having the story end in their own way - but which character comes closest? (...and, are you SURE?)

This is really two movies crammed into one movie. The first part is about 1hour and 33 minutes long. #2 is about 15 seconds long. At the end. The very end. Movie #1 is pretty good. Not great, but good acting overall, good set design, pretty good script. #1 occasionally dragged for a couple minutes at a time but then something interesting would happen (usually Meyers). Banderas was excellent as the boozing going- down-the-drain writer. The ending of Movie #1 fit the picture and made sense in an adult way. I would rate Movie#1 at about 6.5. Movie #2. You have got to be kidding me. Who let this stupid idea into an otherwise acceptable piece of work. Any editor worth their salt would have snipped this ridiculous and viewer-insulting little bit of crap out of the movie without telling anybody. Fortunately #2 only lasts about ten or fifteen seconds at the very end of the movie so if you're fast on the draw you can save yourself. If Movie#2 remains part of Movie#1 I'd drop my rating to 4. And I'm being generous here as #2 really ruined an otherwise interesting film. Combined rating is a 5. And they should consider themselves lucky to get it too.
