When a zombie plague infects a camp for the mentally handicapped, a ragtag band of campers and counselors struggles to survive the night. The unlikely heroes fight their way off the mountain as, one by one, they're picked off and join the ranks of the walking dead. It's a campy stampede of blood, boobs and gore as some "very special" people show that they can kick some serious undead ass.

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

Special Camp Dude, populated by a motley group of bad actors pretending to be retarded, disabled, autistic and invalid are over run by zombies. Not really sure they explained that one too well. The characters are so thinly drawn and are such throwback stereotypes that you'll not find them funny in the slightest. The soundtrack is right out of bad 80s movies.Oh, and any surprise that there is not one shred of coherent direction? But then there isn't a storyline either. There's a camp for special ed kids that knows about the zombies and the solution is to wait till dark and use one rifle, one pistol and a sythe to kill them.Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of politically incorrect movies, but this one is just plainly bad.If you like blood squeezed out of a ketchup bottle as your special effects, you might like this flick.

Despite the title this film is really pretty charming and the most original zombie film I seen in ages. The gore is nice and grimy, different to the usual..I couldn't believe how sensitive the attitudes were to the retards in the film. wtf? There's a nice, genuine, 80s vibe flowing through the whole thing which just about does it, really. All the 90s and 00s zombie offerings were pretty dull. surely everyone's agreed on that. this one rocks like shaun of the dead only much nastier and with hot girls.definitely a 7 at least bless

I had been waiting on this movie to come over for over a year, and as soon as it did I got my copy. This is one of the funniest and original zombie movies ever made. And yes it is a low budget horror film, but it shines. I could only imagine what could have been done had there been a big budget. The characters are great, original and played to perfection, including Jason who plays Machiavelli. He reminds me of a young Bruce from Evil Dead. This movie ranks right up there with some of the horror cult classic. If you get a chance to check this out, do so. This is and is not your standard zombie flick. They stay true to a lot we know about zombies, but the movie adds flavor throughout.

I saw Special Dead over the weekend at the Hollywood Film Festival and it was a whole bunch of fun! The movie was creative. Yes it was low budget and had some technical flaws. But overall, the story was fun to watch. Some scenes, like the one with campfire and the guy with the nun-chucks, were very funny. Other scenes were very bloody. As someone who likes this type of movie, I left the theater knowing I had seen a cult classic. I really hope I can rent/buy it soon. This is the perfect midnight cult movie. If you like zombie movies and are looking for a silly take on the whole zombie thing, then this is a good movie. If you don't have a sense of humor, you might not like this movie. This movie gets my vote as a Bloody Gem.
