While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.

SHAITAN,apt title for this movie. If it had been named anything else I am sure it would not have been appropriate.Movie is basically centered around rich spoiled brats of India.Their parents have tons of money and these jackanapes are reaping on the sinful benefits of it.They are wild and careless about life but one thing that keep them united is their strong bond of friendship or it appears to be holding them together. Things are going great till they run over 2 innocent people while driving rash in a road race. This is where the movie starts to reveal the evilness of characters. These buddies come up with a perfect plan to cover up and hell starts to break loose when a corrupt cop is chasing them.Their egos clash and you know for sure that there is trouble in paradise. Most of the actors do justice to the screen time provided to them.Rajeev Khandelwal is brilliant as the cop whose personal life is tainted but he continues to work wonders at his work.Kalki seem to made for character Amy, she does a commendable job. Rest all casting is fine. Background score provides soul to the movie and adds to it spirit."Pintya" stands out and add to the essence of chase sequence. The gun fight scene in alley looks like heavily inspired from Tarantino but sure is interesting. This movie provide an entirely different aspect of human nature which is not very often depicted in Bollywood.Basically is shows us there is a dark side of every individual; its just one needs that moment to let this cat out of bag.

This thriller is shot stylishly and débutante director Bejoy Nambiar has crafted some stunning visuals that break the norms of conventional cinema and sets a narrative that is very much a new age bold cinema, a far cry from run of the mill. Camera-work and action sequences need special mention. It is offbeat, unconventional and has a pace … yes but the overall result looks like a half baked product. The reason- the film has no clear motive, thus narrative suffers after a point. The statement of filmmaker is not very clear therefore the characterization is incoherent. The film has its interesting moments & there are some fine performances also but the film culminates to a climax which is obscure. Overall, Average.

What a cheap joke coming from a cheap director. This film is filled with cheap B-grade actors and they are ugliest bunch of misfits I have ever laid eyes on. How they managed to worm their way into mainstream Bollywood cinema is a mystery to me. The film is simple enough: a group of friends while driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs cause an accident in which the victim is fatally injured and dies on the spot. They flee from the scene instead of going to the police station and giving themselves up, going immediately to a lawyer, or going to their parents. They decide to bribe a police inspector who demands a hefty sum of 25 Lakh Rupees. They are unable to figure out how to raise this sum and so decide to fake a kidnapping of one of their friends: Amrita (Kalki Koechlin). This proves to be a wrong and disastrous step for them as her parents immediately go to the police, who assign this case to police inspector, Arvind Mathur (Rajeev Khandelwal). Verdict: This film starts of well but then sinks like the Titanic. Avoid spending your hard-earned money going to the cinema to watch it. Rather go and have a hearty meal at your favorite restaurant. If you still want to see this film, watch it online for free or rent it cheap.I saw another film called Musaa: The Most Wanted (2010). This film also has a kidnapping theme and is better in all aspects.

Shaitan speaks about the devil inside each of us, the devil who might take over us when we our own life is in trouble. It also speaks about the corrupt system, its flaws and the people who manipulate the system making use of their indecipherable power. The movie revolves around a group of five young troubled spoiled brats in Mumbai, who as usual have issues with their lives. Spiced up with some offensively witty scenes and dialogues, which is a good thing considering the plot of the movie, the movie is targeted towards the youth and does offer what any regular new age individual would look for in the movie. All the five lead actors seemed appropriate for their characters but for me Gulshan Devaiya as K.C. did a fabulous job among the five. Apart from him, Rajeev Khandelwal performed flawlessly in playing the role of a cop and I was immensely pleased to see Raj Kumar Yadav as a shady police officer. His part was short but he could not have done it better, in fact, he was the perfect choice for that character. But even though the flick was filled with good performances all around and even better direction, it lacked excitement. The whole dish didn't seem to tempt me anytime throughout the meal. It was predictable at times and the idea of rebellious spoiled brats is becoming stale now. This movie is definitely worth watching once or maybe twice for some people, but it is nothing extraordinary and didn't leave me wondering or wanting for more.
