Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

Wake Up Sid is a story about Sid (Ranbir Kapoor) who is a quintessentially Mumbai slacker boy - wealthy, lazy and completely lacking in focus. An unexpected meeting with Aisha (Konkona Sen Sharma), a driven, bold and ambitious writer from Calcutta, results in summer of discoveries, realizations and coming of age. This is a fun and pleasing film to watch on a lazy afternoon. I wasn't paying much attention for the first hour because it is just too generic and I could guess what will happen next and next and next. Plus Ranbir Kapoor plays him bordering on "I want to give him a tight slap" territory. Sorry, that's the 'teacher' in me talking. I kept wanting the dramatic turn-around moment to hit and an hour in it hit, big time. Essentially the movie officially began for me from that moment on. What I didn't count on was how it became a different movie from that moment on. It's different good. Lots of little surprises put a smile on my face and I celebrated with the brat as he grows up. This is a movie of two halves and I love the second half a lot.

WAKE UP SID – CATCH IT ( A ) Wake Up Sid, is an outstanding and a complete real movie. I was literally amazed with how much detail and conviction the young director has made the movie and during all 2/1 hr not for a single second I felt boredom. All the characters in the movie can be seen in our normal life. Ranbir kapoor is truly a genius star, he brought the purity to the character which no one else would have. Konkona Sen Sharma yet again proved that what ever she does, it's par excellence. She in outstanding and looks completely natural. Her chemistry with Ranbir kapoor is the true base of the movie. Anupam Kher and Supriya Pathak did a fantastic job. Kashmira Shah was for few scenes and she looked really good for the 1st time in her life I guess. LOL. All the other new young actors were amazing as Sid's friends. Ayan Mukerjee is a fine young director and the whole movie is his vision. I am really glad that Karan Johar let him made the movie he wanted to make not something that would appeal the commercial success only. No wonder the movie is a huge Hit now. Love it Love it Love it!

Movie looks confused, so does the protagonist of the movie 'Sid', first half is still watchable, but second half is just waste. The movie tries to deal with the easy going high society brats, but ends up being just another movie, people who are rating this movie high, are keeping the base as other pathetic melo-drama's, but let me tell you, this movie is not raising the bar whatsoever, neither in acting nor in directing. Movie concept does have little potential, if it was made with clearer mind, it could have done justice to the plot.Rating of 7.5 on IMDb, seems too much to me, its like comparing it with likes of The Illusionist, The Aviator, which i seem is insult of other two movies. So, in my regard, people with international taste buds, should consider it as 6.0.

Really good movie, it is not the same ghisi-piti story that typically comes out of Bollywood. Most of the movie is great except for the start and end. Too much time is spend at the start to show Sid as an ultra irresponsible slacker, a child really. Then Aisha enter his life, as a friend. I thought Konkana did not fit Aisha, someone younger but still emotionally mature would have been a better fit, Deepika or Kangana would have worked much better. Konkana is a good actress, no doubt about that, but Ranbir-Konkana did not make a good pair, hardly any chemistry. Most of the story is predictable, but the screenplay is really well done and the direction is almost flawless. Ranbir is believable as Sid; though is probably much older, with his baby face he is able to pull it off. He is setting himself up to be typecast as a lover boy.The middle of the movie is where the entire team excels. Acting by Sid and his parents is top notch. The scene where he is taking pictures of his neighbor and their son is probably the best scene in the movie. So much is said and understood without any words. But the end is quite synthetic and artificial. I think the movie would have worked better if Konkana had just moved on from Kabir without the whole love angle with Sid. I felt too contrived; it would make more sense to have Aisha move on from Kabir and Sid continuing on with his friends with passion for his work and goals in life.
