This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
It has everything - multiple story lines, tragedies, humour... And it's simply interesting to watch. Even secondary characters here are perfect - one can see *soul* in everyone. The storyline is not trivial. Strategical factory should be evacuated. We are being shown how destinies of those working on the factory and their families are being broken. And yet - they have no choice, but to live. As one widow in the movie proclaimed: "They wonder why I don't cry... If only nazi could drown in my tears - I would cry round the clock. But they won't. So I have no choice, but to work round the clock."If only I can find the movie, I will definitely purchase it.
