I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

This movie sucked! Poorly delivered in every facet. We all know Aaliyah had a rich personality and shined so brightly. This movie did nothing for me personally. Aaliyah and her family deserves more then this biopic. Produced and portrayed by mediocre talent. I hope they make a real epic movie like Selena. Queen Aaliyah deserves a full tribute which encompasses her craft not just her relations with R Kelly. No one can duplicate this legendary queen. She had Class, grace, confidence, swag, beauty and was super humble. I will always love you Aaliyah! You were a role model for many of us girls growing up. Thank you! Beyoncé and Ciara came close but no one had what Aaliyah had. No one in a million!

I attempted to watch this "movie". I will always be an Aaliyah fan. The fact comes to three big points. 1. Why not mention her movie career. Why focus on gossip instead. 2. What about her hits. Yes she had a career with R. Kelly, but her biggest hits came with Timberland and Missy please refer to "Try Again". 3. Why did Wendy Williams produce a movie when she is only known for gossip. So I can't take it serious. I wish that someone will do justice to her legacy. The acting, didn't watch to much. But after watching one performance of the actress singing, I knew it wasn't for me. Die hard fans will hate this movie!! Be warned. Everything that could've went wrong did. The fact that Wendy Williams thought and tweeted that "Let me know" was a song was just pathetic. How did they put together a film and couldn't even pick up an album to get the song title right.

This movie was horrible I don't recommend it. They don't really describe Aaliyah's life the way it should be. I can tell you Aaliyah would be very disappointed if she could see this. The actors are horrible they could not act. The movie continually skips parts. One minute Aaliyah says she has been doing tours but she only performs once in the movie. This movie was poorly made. THEY didn't capture the true meaning on music. The movie was supposed to inspire viewers, but instead they just rushed the movie. The movie didn't have any performances of Aaliyah expect for one. This movie was a total disappointment, and a waste of time Aaliyah would not be pleased.

Why make a movie about Aaliyah and not do it right. The actress portraying Aaliyah has a singing style that sounds like "pop" while Aaliyah's style is way more Hip/Hop-R&B. The actor portraying R. Kelly looks nothing like him, not even close, and it really bothers when these movies are made about blacks that greater care is not made to find the right actors to more accurately represent the people being portrayed. This production is a massive fail. Aaliyah was a fabulous singer and dancer, how could Lifetime attempt to make a movie about her life and exclude her hits and not include more dancing and singing in it? Her greatest hits are not even in this movie. How can this be? It gets 2 stars simply for attempting to pay homage to the late songbird who deserves so much better than this.
