It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.

Sexless surpasses any other film of this genre that I have seen. Its strengths are in likable characters, good actors, and a good pace for the story. Alex Holdridge directs this film well. It has a good pace, it creates an intriguing atmosphere, and is entertaining. Most often, films of this type are saturated with clichés, product placement, soft-focus melodrama or just actors who you want to shoot. The actors are all good, and I hope to see them in future productions. I think Alex has a talent for telling a good story.Last I heard, "Sexless" was optioned by some Hollywood production company. If this is true, congrats to the cast, crew, director and producers (hope you all get paid!) Hopefully this does not mean the disappearance of this film, for I know Hollywood will just screw it up. The original is well worth a view. Austin looks like a cool town.

I saw this film at the Gen Art festival here in NYC and loved it! The frustrations of the characters, and their observations on the possible impermanence of love, were completely relevant to me. I don't know if it's just a generational thing, or if it would have universal appeal, but this movie spoke to me at this moment in my life as though I'd been guided to it by some unseen hand. Kudos to Alex Eldridge for being such a natural actor in a film he wrote and directed. (The woman who asked after the screening if he was influenced by Woody Allen stole the thought right out of my head.) The cast are extremely talented and they should all go far (some are on their way already, i.e. Camille Chen). The Austin tourism bureau should buy this film. It actually made me want to leave New York and take up residence there! I hope this film gets distribution. I want all my friends to see it.
