Reviews
it is the rare 'crazy' movie that actually has something to say.
If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Brothers Torsuev (Vladimir and Yuri) are wonderful actors. They basically save the whole movie. The work of director, however, needs some bust of energy. The story of the movie is not conclusive and very far from the original book. However, the way the director made children act deserves an award. Brothers Torsuev do their best. But because the story itself is not well thought, their acting fades in the flaws of the movie. The music choice contains some of the best children songs in the former Soviet Union. Wish those songs were better implemented in the movie. The songs say it all. They are THE BEST. Generally, this movie deserves 5 out of 10 points, mostly because of Torseyvs, kids and music.
