Too many fans seem to be blown away
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
There's nothing new in this story, and there's nothing old done better than it was done before. There is a bore fest with 0 real action until the half way mark - 40 minutes of a weak love story, boring conversations, tired superheroes train in a simulator, and superheroes act like 16 year olds. There was a scene in JL Unlimited in which Batman easily saw through Clay Face pretending to be Flash. Batman knew it wasn't really Flash because Clay Face was hamming it up too much, taking Flash's personality too far.Not only is Flash that same caricature - Flash gone too far - in this movie, but Aquaman and GL act like Flash gone too far too. Is this really a spoiler since everyone knew it would happen - Superman dies with the final, killing blow to Doomsday. Gee, we haven't seen that before. It seems Doomsday's greatest power is in boring audiences to death. We get it, he's tough, and he's tough, and he's tough, and he's tough, and tough...Good grief, come up with something original, new.The voice acting is wooden. The animation is pathetic.Avoid this at all costs. You can't go in there, watching it. It will bore you to death.
It is everything you want it to be. Trust me. Peter J. Tomasi has nailed it. It's the best DC movie I've seen in a while. This story has got real heart, I was almost crying in the climax. And the main fight is freaking awesome. I can't remember watching a fight this entertaining and brutal, my computer froze from pure awesomeness, and even though I knew how it would end, I still found myself surprised by a number of the beats throughout the battle. I was struck with awe when I witnessed the climax. It is awesome! I've seen it 4 times, and I am still enjoying it. Can't wait for the Reign of Supermen. 10/10
Twice now WB Animated have attempted the Death of Superman story and twice they've got it wrong. Why they can't do one that is faithful to the source material is beyond me. Only a few actual scenes from the comic made it into this film with even the outfits redone to the poor New 52 suits. The only redeeming features this has are the animation and voice work, otherwise steer clear if you want something faithful. Very disappointed.
He just gets into a fistfight. In this movie, he dies of course, but oh no, he's not dead! He just somehow is alive again. Huh? That's why DC is struggling.
