It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.

"Thank you for Smoking" is the best social satire and downright controversial character study that no one is talking about. Eckhart leads a fantastic cast as a lobbyist for big tobacco as the film explores the ups and downs that come with the job. The screenplay features almost Sorkin like dialogue that is endlessly entertaining to watch be performed especially in the scenes with the "MOD squad" or "Merchants of Death"With Eckhart at career best, a fantastic screenplay, biting social satire and Sam Elliott in the role he was born to play this movie is a must see.

Some of the best acting you out there Thank You For smoking is a a excellent character profile of Nick Naylor a tobacco lobbyist. The catchy cinematography and colorful environments keep you captivated in what becomes a rather insightful look into the world of politics and lobbyist. We venture from one location to another rapidly never pausing to soak in what we are looking at. It keeps you disoriented in a similar way to how Nick keeps his opponents disoriented with his quick wit and endless arguments. While you could hate Nate for his rather deplorable job he becomes likable by the end because his charisma overwhelms his other traits. Beyond just Nick the entire cast performs exceptionally giving us a host of wonderful characters to enjoy. Check out a more in depth review here. Thank You for Smoking (2005): Dir: Jason Reitman / Cast: Aaron Eckhart, Robert Duvall, William H. Macy, Katie Holmes, Maria Bello: Brilliant comedy about opposing arguments. Aaron Eckhart plays Nick Naylor, spokesperson for cigarettes. He is gifted in debates that have his unhealthy product applauded simply because he can talk. He is divorced, and while his ex-wife is involved with another man, his son is growing to take after his father. Film debut for director Jason Rietman backed with a screenplay of overwhelming flair. Eckhart is hilarious as Naylor whose gift for talking not only sells cigarettes but it also opens him up to mass hatred and danger. Robert Duvall steals scenes as his father who pioneered the business in much the same manner. William H. Macy steals scenes as a politician lobbying against cigarettes thus left frustrated in hilarious debates against Naylor. Katie Holmes plays a crooked reporter who seduces Naylor for information that eventually costs him. The karma headed her way is priceless when Naylor takes control again. Maria Bello plays a spokeswoman for the alcohol industry who also weighs in on this controversy. This is easily one of the best films of the year with its humorous dialogue and clever arguments. Regardless of one's thoughts on cigarettes we should thank Rietman for this clever and amusing debate. Score: 10 / 10

Thank You For Smoking. Some movies really fall into different territory all together. Just think of people who are playing the role of Merchants of Death like our hero Nick Naylor played by super Aaron Eckhart who is a lobbyist on behalf of companies who make billions by selling cigarettes and are root cause of 1200 deaths every day. Our hero just does not defend them, he makes sure no one thinks of them being bad people. Although he has facing a personal battle where he has to justify his stand to his growing son who is so fond of him. Directed by Jason Reitman of Juno and Up In The Air fame, this movie is a little cracker with delicious and witty one liners coming at rat a tat speed, characters which are so well defined and screenplay which as clean as water in mountains. I wish the war with senator was given more length as I felt that movie was over before its due time. I am going with fantastic 8 out of 10 for Thank You For Smoking. It is such a delicious comedy and drama with out of box idea that will keep you thinking for days
