n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

How wonderful it is to see this fine actress carry a film and carry it so beautifully.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

Having seen many love stories all my life, I hardly find love stories totally refreshing and innovative but Jaane tu stands out to be one. It's the story of two people who happen to be friends forever with a hidden love for each other which they find out towards the ending. Imran khan is okay in his debut role but Genelia proves to be the performer of the movie. Story is narrated in a simple way in the movie but the screenplay of this movie is just awesome. No scene goes waste in the movie and climax is the real treat. Over all, Jaane tu is one movie which remains to be my all time favorite in love stories category. This movie has beautiful lyrical values clubbed with mesmerizing music by A R Rahman sir. If you ever wanna start watching any Indian teen movie, give Jaane tu the first shot.

Same old Bollywood love story...boys and girl -best friends but unaware of the fact that they are in love. Although countless movies have exploited this wafer-thin plot in the past, JTYJN does it in a new, cool , fresh kind of way which makes you cheer for the couple in the end.The characters are etched out neatly. I didn't like the two protagonists and thought that supporting characters were worked on better. For eg: Aditi's brother, the naive gujju friend and of course Paresh Rawal(I love him, he manages to pull off anything.) Hated the rotlu- his girlfriend whatever. The Arbaaz-Sohail Khan & Ranjhod ka Rathore track was unnecessary although the cousins calling each other by names from The Jungle Book characters was funny.(and this is the only nickname one would like in a movie where grown-up characters address each other by rats-meow sheeesh!!!!) As for performances, sadly the new heartthrob Imran Khan just cant cant(sorry fans), Genelia needs to work on her accent. Others were brilliant.Don't expect logic here. A good one time watch.

After reading some of the glowing reviews from some of the users and the high rating I thought I couldn't go wrong by slotting the DVD in my player and sitting back and enjoying the evening away. The movie starts slowly and rather tediously...and I was on the verge of switching off the movie...The development of the group is brief but good though I wish they had employed the rest of the group more effectively and given them a few more moments rather than being background filler and fodder for the two main characters, both of who are neither interesting nor very engaging. Aditi is loud, annoying all over the place while Jai is sickeningly oversweet...the all round "nice" guy that the director and script writers try to force onto the audience. As a group it was fun to watch them and it would have been nice to see them have some more comic misadventures. The story is nothing new but at least it looked interesting...the two main characters are so close that even a blind man could guess they would end up together but the script takes them on a round trip to nowhere and back. It was fun to watch Jai and his new girlfriend and Aditi's increasing anxiety and jealously. If this had been handled better there would have been more jealousy/comedy moments written but then this is bollywood...The story definitely takes a nose dive after the interval with all the usual clichés being reused...The two find that shockingly they are in love with one another but neither wants to admit it...Aditi's boyfriend turns out to be a villain (gasp, I didn't see that coming!!), Jai's girlfriend is a little nuts (what a surprise there). Even the climax is a cliché where the two star crossed lovers are going to be separated and the hero has to do something herculean and heroic to save the day. The scenes at the airport are blindingly stupid...given what's been happening lately there is no way Jai would have gotten through the x-ray machine...not with ten guys holding machine guns in their hands... The three codes of a rathore is stupid and annoying. I found myself forwarding most of the second half as the movie had effectively ended for me.Acting wise Genelia aka Aditi is as bad as they come. I was surprised and shocked to discover that she is a bit of an acting veteran given her tender age. And she still sucks...She had no scope and brought nothing likable for the character of Aditi...She was loud and annoying. Imran Khan is average and showed nothing different than all the other new comers. This movie was just made for him to make his big entrance and look good. Well, he wasn't very impressive and the sad thing is that it won't matter because of whose nephew he is and his connections. The rest of group acted better than the main two. The main song Pappu can't dance is annoying and horrible and that's going to keep me up for a night or two...So who should watch this? If you're used to a big group of friends who are always together, share laughter and tears together then this is the movie for you. If you really don't care about anything and want to be distracted then this is the movie for you. If you've ever had a crush on someone in the group and had to hide it from that person then this is the movie for you (to a certain extent). The script could have been handled much better to deliver a standout end result and make this a cult movie on friendship like Breakfast Club did. But it didn't happen and that in itself is a big letdown...

No earth-shattering concept/ plot. It's a phenomena film industry has witnessed time and again. A movie which strikes the chord with "Archie-Betty-Veronica" to the "T". The jigsaw pieces songs, dances, growing up teething troubles/ emotions et all fit in very well, and the movie gains a cult status.Performances::° Imran Khan:: Good launch pad. Only time will tell his standing in the industry.° Genelia D'Souza:: Forget the bad bout in her first innings but this movie will be a turning point in her Bollywood career. Honestly, I was expecting sky-high from her owing to her awesome performance in "Bommarillu".° Ratna Pathak Shah:: Played her part of a gene-suppressing mother very well. Again a very layered role.° Naseeruddin Shah:: Under-utilisation at its depth.° Paresh Rawal:: Under-utilised and his character had shades of the role he reprised in Dacait.° Manjari Fadnis:: Great screen presence owing to her captivating looks. Lets hope she gets a fair share of Bollywood.° Pratiek Babbar:: Went completely unnoticed until I was told that he is the prodigal son of Smita Patil. Deserved a better break IMO.° Arbaaz & Sohail:: The Bagheera & Baloo pop-up now and then to prove a point at the very end (another layer).° Rajat Kapoor, Anuradha Patel, Jayant Kriplani – strictly OK.° Rest of the star-cast who played "Jughead-Big Moose-Dilton" of Jai & Aditi… good job. With A. R. Rehman helming the music, its bound to top the charts, encored at clubs/ pubs/ discs and stay on the lips of the Gen-X for a while to come. The story does have many layers to it and Abbas Tyrewala has done a commendable job. But taking 5-years to write this stuff is a bit far-fetched.It goes without saying that its Aamir Khan behind the curtains donning the puppeteer's hat – so the chances of faltering is a rarity.PS: I just discovered that JTYJN is a blatant copy of "Nirom" (1998- Malayalam)!
