I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

If I could have done 0, then I might have. But Angie is amazing just as she is. The rest of this is so obvious you know the story with in the first 4 minutes. Everything is so bad and stereo type.Actually, I think it was Denise best performance. So I have to do 10 lines of text so I guess I will write more on this film.Uhh.... Predicable. Angie Harmon, good. Acting in a whole very very flat. Story wanted to be cute and smart, but falls way behind. The opening is so bad that it drags on just to show you how much the lead can fall. Then when the fall happens it is so obvious that you just can't wait for it happen. Just a waste of time. Unless you want to see how not to do a Romantic Comedy and how not to director actors that are not bad actors on their own. So for that education may be worth watching.

Ryan (Sheen) is an investment banker with an unethical idea he thinks will put him way ahead of the game. When the idea fails, he loses his job, his apartment, most of his savings, and his ditzy girlfriend, Cindy (Richards). The loss of gold digger Cindy unexpectedly provides Ryan with another job opportunity. Cindy jets off to Brazil with a supposed new beau and Ryan secretly writes Cindy's lovelorn column, to keep it going and to get a paycheck. However, Ryan becomes much better at giving advice than Cindy and increases the circulation of the paper that publishes the column. Problem? Ryan's new boss is a no-nonsense, very intelligent, beautiful, single woman and he starts to fall for her. Will she return the affections? This is a very cute movie, despite Sheen being somewhat wrong for the role. His transformation from jerk to good guy doesn't seem realistic. However, the other players, Richards, Everhard, Lovitz, Arquette, Newman and Estelle Harris are absolutely wonderful and make for a fun, fun time. There is a somewhat risqué tone to the film every now and then so viewer beware. However, this material is at a minimum and doesn't really spoil the enjoyment. If you love romantic and humorous stories, my advice is to find this one, put on your pajamas, and curl up on the sofa for an oasis of entertainment from the busy, busy world around us.

Entertaining romantic comedy. Ryan Turner(Charlie Sheen)is a suave stockbroker that loses his job for accusations of insider trading. His lovely girlfriend Cindy(Denise Richards)leaves him for free flowing money. She also walks out on her job as an advice columnist for a small, near-broke newspaper ran by the alluring Angie Harmon. In desperation Ryan secretly takes over Cindy's column. By the time Cindy returns hopefully to make up with Ryan; he has already fallen in love with her former boss. The supporting cast includes: Jon Lovitz, Barry Newman, Estelle Harris and Rosanna Arquette. Sheen is quite charming; Richards and Harmon are very easy on the eyes. Arquette to me was irritating. My advice is to invest some time watching this funny romantic comedy.NOTE: this movie led to the marriage of Sheen and Richards.

Charlie Sheen is so lovable as Ryan in this movie! This is one of his best movies, of course after the epic Major League and Hot Shots. He's plays well with Denise Richards, although she was painfully wrongfully cast as Cindy. His subsequent relationship with Page is much more entertaining. I enjoyed Page's secretary and all her one-liners and blatant innuendos directed at Ryan. Charlie played the fallen business man very well. I adored Rosanna Arquette and still maintain that she is the only talented one in that family. Her relationship with her plastic surgeon husband was so funny... perhaps even more funny than Charlie's desperation. This film is a must-rent!
