It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

This follow up for the original "Rest Stop" is fast paced, entertaining, humorous (Jared taking a crap and being ambushed by a truck by later getting a crap shower! in the likes of "Slumdog Millonaire" or the having sex with a ghost scene), and gory at some points. The plot twist that worked in the original tries to repeat the success in this sequel but it didn't make an impact at all.The whole explanation towards the legend of death is pretty interesting and gruesome if you take in account the opening murder. The creepy twins, the midget, the sexual sadistic mother, and the preacher; now that's material for a b-direct to video sequel. The gore is just good and it's all about eye gouging and stabbings. The acting is just regular by the standards of these kind of movies. The lead actress is pure hotness! Most of the characters are likable, heck even Jared. I liked how it kept connected with the events of the original. The "ends here" line was pure gold and gave a darker tone to the movie.Watch it if you're fan of direct to video horror. It has the "b" feeling all over it.The ending left me wondering "what the hell?!". And I'm sure a sequel is on it's way. But for the better it should "ends here".

I would call this Rest Stop 2: Don't Bother to Look. This movie by far was not the worst I have seen. But with that being said it is far from the best. We have the brother and his ridiculous girlfriend (don't care about her at all) searching for the two from the original. Then we have random guy that has sex with a ghost while wearing poop stained underwear. I digress. The couple ends up at the infamous rest stop, where they battle the restroom ghost and the creepy family of nuts and the school bus. I did like that they gave the killer some background but they didn't know what to do with it, once they gave it to us. I was left wondering, what the hell just happened. I was confused and frankly don't need to see a part 3. Just let this series of movies die. They suck! It is unfortunate that they couldn't have made a better movie. I really wanted this to be good and to tie up all the questions I had from the 1st.

I recently came across this movie, and i had to buy, only because of how awesome the first one is. The first time I watched Rest Stop, i was like wow, i couldn't believe the amount of violence and carnage in it. So when i watched Rest Stop 2, the amount of violence is even greater. Some scenes were harder than hell to watch. Im just glad that it follows the first one, where a returning soldier Richard Tillman(The Day The Earth Stood Still) and his girlfriend Jessie Ward(Wicked Wicked Games), set out to look for his missing brother Joey Mendicino(Rest Stop) and his girlfriend, and wind up encountering the psychotic fanatical family and the murderous truck driver. This film shows how the killer came to be and who he was in the first film. This movie is hardcore and brutal, so I only recommend it to die hard horror fans!

I disagree with Mr. Schmitt in most things. First, the casting. Tom Hilts (Richard Tilman) wasn't overly likable, but he wasn't playing a care bear. I did like him and found myself routing for him and his quest. He channeled some real emotion and I definitely felt his pain. Jared (Graham Norris) was perfect as the dorky side kick, and I found him to be quite likable. Although I'm not sure he was supposed to be, I found him quite hilarious. The girlfriend Marilyn (Jessie Ward) wasn't a good hot chick, she is better described as the average chick, who was so annoying i found myself wishing she'd die a horribly painful and bloody death after the first 20 minutes. It did help ease the pain of her horrendous acting that she showed her boobies, although I'm pretty sure they're fake, so I deduct two points. Final score: Tilman 7.5, Norris 8, Ward 4.2.Torture and blood have always and will always be a necessary staple in the horror genre. There was nothing boring about the torture scenes in this movie, in fact, I'd say those scenes are what make the movie worth watching. Kudos to the make up artists. Could have used more boobs and hotter ladies. Also, the movie could have used more of the trailer family as they are the creepiest part, but I liked that they explained the back story on the driver and how it all began. The dialog is sub par and gets a bit cheesy, which is probably why some of the acting is also sub par, but that is to be expected with this type of movie. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good horror flick.
