A Disappointing Continuation

It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Recap: Earl is a good man, but there are some peculiar circumstances. For instance he is dating his stepsister Baby (but hey, they began dating long before their parents did so...), and they're very happy. However, Junior, Baby's cousin, comes with her, and Baby has charged Earl with looking after Junior. Which is not easily done, as Junior has a talent to get himself into trouble. Now he's outdone himself, as he stole a bag full of drugs and money. At the same time Baby and Earl has decide to move, so suddenly Earl must solve everything, by Tuesday!Comments: This is a real fun movie. Not hilarious no, but there is no slow moments anywhere. Between Earl, Baby and Junior there is always some new twist, some new development around the corner. For us viewers, that means something to watch and keep track of every moment. And yes, every twist and turns brings something new, something fun. But it goes to hilarious. It is a very good movie, but for all new developments, it never goes to great. Some plot turns are all to obvious, including the ending, and the jokes are a lot of the same. But still I enjoyed it very much. Well worth watching! 7/10

This is the worst movie Joshua Jackson has ever been associated with. The budget must have been donated by the local Dairy Queen. Acting was really bad. Josh needs to stick to his normal accent. He did not even get close to pulling off Texas slang.I found myself laughing at the movie, not because of it. The title suggests a Lone Star State of Mind???? The characters besides wearing a cowboy hat did not represent Texas or the Texan state of mind on any level. The only thing good about this movie was Jaime King. The script was pointless and the acting stunk; don't waste your time with this loser.

Considering Joshua Jackson has a distinct Canadian accent he did a wonderful job sound like a "good 'ol boy" from Texas. Each character in this film plays a unique role in creating this surprisingly funny account of a young man from Texas. I especially liked the part where child Earl discovers he is not in fact Jesus Christ reincarnated when his daddy is killed while preaching to the heathens in the bars. DJ Qualls also stands out as borderline retarded Junior. The scene where Junior hands tinker the bag of panties and maxi pads when Tionker had asked for pantyhose to rob a pizza delivery person. Juniors explanation and solution were extremely comical. The only thing that makes this film not completely perfect was the shoot out in the warehouse. It just was not convincing that everyone gets shot except for the main characters. But Earl finally meeting his "daddy's killer" was pretty cool. This is a must see movie.

The reason why I like this movie is the chemistry and the dialogue between Earl and Baby. I know most of the characters in this movie - in the South, the Southwest, the West, the Midwest, and especially Texas (it seems more of an East Texas or the Hill Country).Jaime King was especially good as a wanna-to-get-outta-here-fast girl. And the she push the buttons on Joshua Johnson's character (Earl) but everything that Earl does to please Baby goes awry. To me, this is a comedy of errors (like Black Adder). Earl and Baby have to deal with various nitwits or relatives (sometimes both). I think the title to this flick should "Murphy's Law." Jaime King had a decent script (for once) and she makes the most out of it - she puts her soul into her part and she shines. The whole cast was pretty good. It reminds me of "Dummy," but with so many ignorant hillbilly redneck cracker references - but it also shows family dysfunction in a good funny light.
