Lack of good storyline.
Best movie ever!
Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
This is a very very solid movie. I was putting off watching it because of the low rating but new I'd definitely get around to it at some point just because of the cast and some of the written reviews here. I'm honestly upset with myself for not watching sooner. Everyone in the movie gives good performances, the writing is funny, the plot is fun and thrilling while also making you actually care about the main character Harold. Watch this movie! It's definitely no masterpiece and it isn't reinventing the wheel, but it's worth your time.
Many different strands of storylines in this movie and if you pick one and follow it through it'll be a pretty good flick. No one subplot stays on point long enough for its weaknesses to show up and bore the hell out of you. In a way its like one of the old goofball comedies from the 30's and 40's.. with modern day violence. Not bad. Not great but not bad.
I guess with that cast, it may sound strange to call it a little movie. But it's not a blockbuster and even with that cast, I don't think you can accuse the movie of having a big budget. Also the cast helps with the B-movie plot. It may feel uneven at times, but it is still fun to watch.The beginning is timeline wise not the beginning, but even so, I think many will be able to see through and be able to put things together (pieces of the puzzle), even before we get to that point in time. So I wouldn't really say there is a big element of surprise there. It still makes sense to have it structured that way. So enjoy this movie if you can, it is a fun ride
GRINGO, a dark comedy mixed with white-knuckle action and dramatic intrigue, explores the battle of survival for businessman Harold Soyinka (David Oyelowo) when he finds himself crossing the line from law-abiding citizen to wanted criminal. Despite a terrific cast this dark comedy is toned down by it's own stupidity and horribly written characters that even actors like Charlize Theron can't fix. The story was also boring and the pacing was off, a total waste of good money and names. (0/10)
