Two scientists are chosen as guinea pigs for a time experiment: they are placed in hibernation and should be brought back to life after three years. In the meantime, however, World War III breaks out and life has been wiped off the surface of Earth. When they wake up, it turns out that not only 50 years have passed but also that they are the only living specimens of the male sex in a new, underground society composed exclusively of women.

Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

A couple of Polish guys are put into deep freeze for three years as an experiment, but things don't go quite as planned and they are thawed decades later when men have become extinct and women rule the world. The premise shows some promise for hilarity, a la Woody Allen's "Sleeper," but this one is completely devoid of laughs and it goes on forever. The comedy is so sophomoric that it makes The Three Stooges look like sophisticated Shakespearean actors. The sets and cinematography are so cheesy that it looks like a home movie made on a budget of about $1.98. Movies like this make one appreciate the fast forward button on the remote.

I recently saw this brilliant Polish film with English subtitles and I must say that I am becoming quite a fan of this director. After seeing this, I realize that the Wachowski Brothers are obviously Polish, hailing from Chicago - a Polish epicenter and obviously fans of this film. If you liked the philosophy, the 'what is real' twists running in the Matrix then you best check this film and witness the obvious inspiration for that stunning trilogy. This film is seriously clever, gratuitous and the obvious forerunner to what we praise the Wachowski Brothers for so cleverly revealing to the American audience; the decadence of totalitarian regimes, propaganda and fascist idiosyncrasies. Mind you this film is funny, even with subtitles.'Sex Mission' is a Polish classic. It is an obvious reaction to Communism and quite brilliant as a humanist science fiction. Quite a few scenes seem to be properly praised throughout the Matrix Trilogy and its fun to witness the clever inspiration for such blockbuster features.

As I'm Polish I've got the possibility of enjoying every single word and dialog in this outstanding movie and somehow relating it to Polish stereotypes and history... but I really do think that 'Sexmission' will be just as hilarious to everyone... =) The plot, the action, the characters played by unrivaled actors make this movie definitely worth watching - and it makes you die with laughter =). It's number one of all the comedies I've seen, even though I've seen it hundreds of times =). Watching the poor men being woken up in the world of women and trying to catch on the situation...well it's something to see, really =)))!

I watched this movie in town in 1992, that was my first time to hear Polish, lovely language. Later, I had rummaged through the internet hoping to get a copy of DVD of this marvellous movie but fate doesn't permit, just one copy of video on ebay, yuck! Many of us are familiar with Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski's trilogy Red, Blue, White, the 10-episode TV "Decalogue" and also The Double Life of Veronique. Perhaps not many of us have seen this hilarious, provocative but little known sci-fi "mission" comedy. With its background setting, one may easily associate the story with totalitarianism, dictatorship, fascism, social satire and science machinations. The voluntary 3-year-yet-turned-10-year hibernation of Olgierd Lukaszewicz and Jerzy Stuhr, the untimely wars in between, the hostility of the mis-educated, mis-informed and aggressive "amazonians" are fantastic elements interpreted humorously and successfully. When the two man wake up from the hibernation, they find that they seem to be the only men in an all-female society living underground. They venture to keep alive by disguising as women. The biggest irony is when one of them struggles to leave the place but rushing into the "starry night", he finds that it is only a layer of elastic plastic tent: the women living underground have been deceived all through the years. Later they bring their beloved women out from the underground and let them experience the tenderness of sex with man.The public trial is the most unforgettable. After their identity has been figured out, they are caught and thrown into an arena-like court house to be tried and judged by the entire female population. One of the allegations is: all scientists are men and they cause war so they are criminals. One man retorts, "What about Madame Curie?" A few seconds' silence, "HE's also a man!" exploded from the frantic crowd. If making an analogy of 1984 with this one, the former is heavy and dark, the latter is light and hopeful, though both carry the same message: Big Brother (Sister) is Watching.
