The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course (2002)

The movie is wonderful and true, an act of love in all its contradictions and complexity

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter, and his wife Terri work to save the animals of the Australian outback. An US satellite beacon has fallen out of the sky and landed in Australia. It gets swallowed by a crocodile. CIA agents are sent to retrieve it. American agent Jo Buckley is also sent to get the beacon to use in inter-agency politics. Cattle station owner Brozzie Drewitt is also looking the kill the croc on her lands. Australian Government Fisheries worker Sam Flynn tries to relocate the croc by hiring the Irwins before Brozzie shoots it.Steve Irwin has an infectious charm. His act is great. There is a natural magnetism about him. Sadly, this movie decides to tie him to this silly international spy stuff. Then the movie adds the terribly broad Magda Szubanski. The whole thing is schizophrenic. I'm perfectly happy to watch Steve wrestle a crocodile. Somebody needs to make a good movie around him. This is not that movie.

As a fan of Steve Irwin, I was quick to get this movie as soon as I could, and even as a Kid I loved it. It is hilarious, and it sticks to the great and lovable guy that we all loved, Steve Irwin (Moment of silence).......However for those who never saw the show, may want to freshen up on him before watching this feature film. Also of note, notice the Lion intro thing being replaced by a crocodile, the classic examples of conservative rural facing off against liberal laws of the land and large ladies being made fun of and locked up in various predicaments. Though, I have to wonder how a zoo keeper manages to frustrate two agents of the CIA anyway? IF your not a fan of Steve, then you may not find the film to be as enjoyable as it truly should be

So, Steve Irwin. You have to admire a man who is not only willing to throw himself into a river that clearly is filled with crocs, snakes, lizards, tons of poop from the aforementioned reptiles, and mud, not only daily, but with enthusiasm. He was never able to make ME want to do it, but he managed to make his wife come close.This movie does not fall into my parallel universe of film category - the films for people who just had their teeth drilled, have a migraine, or have no film experience and therefore like quiet mediocrity (currently well populated by Disney films). It's too noisy. Well, Steve is too noisy. He's just so happy all the time, and would cut right through the blasé' teenager (I can hear it now: "that movie was so STUPID") or the Tylenol with codeine. I'd say his enthusiasm is catching, but if it was, I would own a room full of snakes, and that hasn't happened yet. I agreed they're beauties, but I'm still not going to pet them.Plot was indeed predictable. Bad guys were so bad, for a minute there I thought I was shopping at a consumer electronic superstore. But the movie was filled with animals, and Steve and Terri, which is why I watched it. That plot (if you could call it that) was really more of a reason to throw yet another croc in a truck. My expectations were low and stayed that way.I was hoping, though, that there would be a bit of a sequel, where Steve and Terri (having worked on their acting skills) have a movie with a real plot and more animals with fur. I still can't believe we won't see Steve anymore. I hope that Terri and the children continue to be involved in the Australia Zoo and the discovery channel, at least. I can't imagine seeing a crocodile without having some member of the Irwin family telling me forcefully how wonderful that croc is. Crikey!

I saw this movie in the theaters and, though the plot was thin, i was watching a man who adored what he was doing and that made it a thrilling experience.The story was basically there to give the croc hunter something to work with while doing the usual showcasing of his passion. It wasn't necessarily a longer episode of his show - it was an actual story happening as he is filming a show and, even when the bad guys are after, he's still talking to the camera, to us, like we're watching a show. i found that as a brilliant take as opposed to Steve Irwin just acting like he was in the movie and we were just watching. He brought us right in.People thought he was silly and even nuts - but now we all know that there will never be another Steve Irwin and i don't know how soon it will be before we find another person as devoted to wild life as he was.God bless Steve Irwin
