a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

Yet another tv offering in which the characters are far too moronic to survive every day life here on today's earth much less the environment depicted in this movie.

More nonsense from the SyFy Channel. This one sees a diverse group of characters randomly transported to an alien planet, where they must contend with an aggressive alien monster who seems intent on having them for lunch. What it all boils down to is a bunch of characters running around in a forest and being menaced and eaten by a dinosaur-like beast.FEROCIOUS PLANET has absolutely nothing that makes it stand out from the crowd. The actors are undistinguished (the only familiar face is John Rhys-Davies, who is bumped off early on), the characterisation is nil and the script just isn't true to life. The CGI effects are unsurprisingly bad, and the action isn't exciting. Throwing in a handful of mildly gory death scenes just doesn't do anything to make it better.Although the film strives to be an exciting story of adventure and survival, it never is. It lacks the B-movie spirit of something like AZTEC REX, where the narrative becomes a romp and the viewer enjoys themself regardless; the only thing you'll be enjoying here are the closing credits.

"Ferocious Planet" (2011) is about a group of office people who are accidentally teleported to another world via an experimental device that opens windows to parallel dimensions. The forested world looks like earth but it's inhabited by ferocious beasts the size of dinosaurs. The group do everything in their power to survive and find a way back. Before watching this one I fast-forwarded through it and didn't think I'd like it, but -- after viewing -- I have to admit that I enjoyed it for what it is. It's both a story of exploration (of the new planet) and survival. The former gives it a sense of mystery and the latter an air of tension. There are a couple of good women, but they have office apparel on the whole time, which isn't a big deal; I just prefer women in cavegirl outfits in these types of movies, lol (like Beth Rogan in the 1961 version of "Mysterious Island" or Annabelle Wallis and Hannah Tointon in 2010's excellent "The Lost Future").Most people seem to be attracted to this film because Joe Flanigan stars in it; having never watched "Stargate: Atlantis", this was my first exposure to him.The film runs 88 minutes and was shot in Ireland.BOTTOM LINE: "Ferocious Planet" is nothing to get excited over, but it is a solid Grade-B creature feature with a compelling survival situation and the anxiety and thrills thereof.GRADE: B-

This is a probably one of the worst films I've ever watched. For a long time I thought it was meant to be a parody (and I still believe in the option), but if so, also limping. Is this a low, low, low budget film...? Pace, plot, dramaturgy, allegedly special effects (the animated monsters are hilariously bad), acting, music, not to speak of content or idea — all of it is terrible. It is not even entertaining, despite its abundance of indeliberate humor. It only reminds me how much time there is generally spent in vain in the movie business, producing nothingness. The acting resembles an unsuccessful early cartoon, where anything like timing is nearly absent. As usual in American films, there are the compulsory ingredients of yelling-women-for-no-reason without having their coiffure disturbed, but here the illusion of resolve or courage or readiness to act or something along those protocols does not function — or become manifest. Conclusion: «Ferocious Planet» is a dreadful production. A disgrace for the screen — simply something for the dustbin. It is almost impossible to imagine that someone expects an audience to take something like this seriously in 2011. Or hold on: It might serve as an item for the film academies, splendidly exemplifying what to avoid. Hence, for the sake of pedagogy, not a complete waste after all.
