Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

I'm sorry I had to fast-forward this crappy film to the ending just to see how it ends after 15 minutes of watching it. It's tasteless trash instead of being bloody good or even semi-good.From what I've seen, It's overly gory, lame excuses to show nudity, stupid story, and just overall dumb. Now I understand the low rating and bad reviews on this film garbage. If you love Vampires and Comedy-Horror films then watch a film like "Love at First Bite", "Dracula, Dead and Loving It" or even "Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein" (Bela Lugosi plays Dracula in that one). Forget this Modern day Vampire trash film. It's not worth the time to watch it. There are MUCH better films on the market than this.It gets 1 star from me ONLY because of Kim Cattrall and Casper Van Dien both looked hot in the film and I'm forced to give a 1 star minimum.1/10

By the makers of "Freeway"(96), utilizing the same wry, dark humor, with some ham: picture elderly Rod Steiger as an old Van Helsing - ze vampire hunter! Modern L.A. is the scene. Van Dien plays Dallas, a returning blood-sucker who hooks up with his old brood and contends against the local big-shot 'Count' (none other than Dracula himself, it turns out, played by Robert Pastorelli of Murphy Brown fame). Most of the humor stems from Van Helsing's recruitment of Crips gang-members as his helpers. Also, I viewed an unrated version, so the hip notions include traces of lesbianism & racy sex scenes. Winsome Wagner (daughter of Natalie Wood) is alternately cute when whining and vicious when indulging her bloodthirsty ways, growling like a bobcat in heat. Her scenes carry an odd kind of energy. The pace and execution is not as smooth as could be, however, probably due to low-budget problems. Despite the humor mentioned, this comes across as a plodding effort, unclear, episodic and not all that intelligent.

Only in America can vampires expect to call for garbage pickup. No messy disposal problems here. As a vampire author, I'd far rather see vampire movies that feature something new, rather than rehashing the old myths - no matter how well it's done. (For a similar new take on vampires, though hardly as funny, be sure to see Dance of the Damned) Actually, though Modern Vampires seems to strive to be intentionally bad, this makes it very funny, very hip though certainly not for everyone.I loved it for the early humor (The scene with the bitchy salesperson in the dress shop was worth the rental price all by itself), and was sad to see the over the top end did not work quite as well as the first half.

Modern Vampires is a brilliant and original little satire. Casper Van Dien is the ultimate hipster vampire, smoking cigars and cruising around in his '68 Camaro muscle car. Rod Stieger as the self righteous Van Helsing, paired with gangsta Crips as his posse is absurd and sublime. I laughed my head off. The trailer park scene of Natasha Wagner, now a poor white trash little vampire confronting her parents was poignant, however the tone of the film overall is a funny well crafted tale. This is a film that gets better and better over time. Beware that the TV version (as opposed to the DVD) has cuts that make some of the plot hard to follow, especially missing is the scene of Kim Cattrall turning into a demon before the Crips... (and I won't tell you more). The film is absolutely brilliant!
