It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

Today, Kevin Costner's Criminal releases in my country. I was supposed to attend a night show, but it can wait because today is also Ms Jennifer Blanc's Birthday (April 21) and I have to show honor. I got myself a couple of hamburgers and a chilled carbonated drink, sat back and relaxed, and watched one of her films, which she produced and starred in as the main character. It's also directed by her husband, the legendary Michael Biehn who also wrote the screenplay and starred in it as well, he was in the leading role. The film also stars Danielle Harris, Ryan Honey, Denny Kirkwood and others. Almost Human Inc was also part of the crew. Excellent performance and work by the entire cast and crew, they did an outstanding job. It's a low-budget film but it doesn't look low to me, it was really well done. It was one entertaining ride with suspense and it was intense. You have violence, gore, hot romance, twists, incredible dirty and dark dialogues and it all adds up to one perfect grindhouse thriller. There's more to it as well, like a dark disturbing psychological feeling at the end and I would really love to see a sequel. Robert Rodriguez inspired Michael to do this movie and, Oh Boy, he really brought it in 11 days. Respect!!! Michael and Jennifer are one of the greatest duos in film making next to Rob Zombie, Sheri Moon and Eli Roth, Lorenza Izzo. I don't know why there are bad reviews for this one and I don't care. I only keep good movies in my collection and this is one of those. Really can't freakin wait for Hidden In The Woods!!!

I agree with what some of the negative reviewers have said that this was obviously made so that Biehn could have sex on screen with his middle-aged wife who could show off her boobies. I didn't know they were an item until I read the reviews here after the film, but it was clear watching it that he chose her for reasons other than any ability to act and gave her so much screen time for no reason. It was also obvious that this was an ego-stroking exercise for Biehn who was very careful to show himself off as nude as possible, which I felt was for him his last hurrah to show the world his bod as he teeters on the brink of proper old age when there's nothing that can be done to maintain any appearance of the body we had in our youth. So he made the most of this opportunity - and so did his wife, because saggy-bagginess hits ladies far sooner than gents; so she also made the most of the opportunity while they had completely unnecessary sex every which way (and it's not even sexy). She kept telling him how great he looks for 54 - I actually thought he looked 64 in a lot of the scenes and that's me being honest rather than cruel. The film is very disjointed, which isn't helped by the pointless flashbacks that added zero to the plot and were simply time fillers. All through watching it I was expecting what I was seeing/hearing to mean something somewhere along the line, but nothing did - the whole thing just tumbled along in a very flabby way.But probably the fact that I was waiting for things to gel and/or mean something as the story flubbered along to its end was the only reason I stayed with it, because I thought that it was going to get better and come good... but it never did.I'd watch it again actually, because it's one of those films when after a few days I think, "What the heck was that? Did I miss something important, or was it really that bad?" So I'll take another look at least halfway to check my judgement. I wouldn't tell anyone NOT to watch it, because it's a 'curiosity' - though I can't imagine anyone genuinely thinking this is anything more than a mediocre film; and I'm a big fan of Biehn!

Annie's life is in jeopardy after she witnesses the murder of her friend. Fleeing from two attackers she stumbles across Kyle, who has a cabin in the woods. Kyle finds the stillness of the woods comforting, and stays far from anything or anyone else, until a knock on his door throws his life into chaos......Ever since The Terminator, Biehn has always been quality in whatever movie he's been in, from Aliens to Navy Seals, to The Rock, no matter how small the role,he's always made an impact, so a directorial effort from him would always be a curioso piece. And plus the added factor of its exploitation roots, and Danielle Harris, I was looking forward to this. And then I waited for the film to get going, waited a bit more, and then the film finished with a twist that you can see coming from a mile off.Take away the the story, and the film is nothing more than a vanity project for him and his wife. The script is full of compliments to them both, Harris is hardly in it, and its nothing more than a revenge flick, a downright boring one at that.Biehn though, no matter how big his ego must have been making this, puts in a good performance, but it cannot save the film from what it is.A boring ego trip.

Cracking backwoods thriller with a comic undertone from 80s b-movie star Michael Biehm, who also co-wrote the screenplay. The mixture takes some balancing but he gets it just right, while the laidback pace lets the story simmer. The tale itself should not be taken too seriously, although it is inevitably 'based on real events': two strippers go the woods with two cops. The end result is messy. A lot of people seem to have taken the story straight, ignoring accompanying the black humour. Their loss.Biehm the actor has a real presence now, dominating every scene he's in. His grizzled look has added character. Also good is producer/actress Jennifer Blanc, here playing a stripper who jumps out of the frying pan into the furnace.
