Fantastic!
Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies
If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
How to Talk to Girls at PartiesThe easiest way to talk to girls at a party is when they're inserting money in to your G-string.Sadly, the teenager in this romantic-comedy isn't anywhere close to being stripper material.Punk-rocker Enn (Alex Sharp) gets wind of a show at a club run by the queen of the scene (Nicole Kidman) and crashes it. In-between mosh pits he meets Zan (Elle Fanning) and they bond over their love of rebellious music.Unbeknownst to Enn, Zan is actually an alien and their relationship is about to ignite an intergalactic war.Too bizarre for its own good, this elongated adaptation of a Neil Gaiman love story gets points for creativity and acting, but with a questionable soundtrack and an out there script that departs from the 18-page graphic novel it ends up a chaotic mess.Nonetheless, the nice thing about dating an alien is that their family lives light-years away. Please give me back my money and my time !!!! Why lord why ? I can't imagine why they did this movie - seriously , it was a totally waste of time ...
While definitively unique and energetic, the movie struggles to have focus on any plot point that presents us, which is a shame 'cause there are some interesting ideas and concepts that are barely touched on: the romance (which disappointingly had very few chemistry), the aliens's different cultures, "the punk", etc. Aside from that, the acting was decent, although is (obviously) Elle Fanning that really steals the show as well as Nicole Kidman, the soundtrack is great, both from the punk and the ambient electronic experimental alien-ish side of the music, the directing is decent, all in all is really the script that makes the film fall short, which, again, is disappointing for a film with this clear passion and effort put into.
I really enjoyed this. I watched with my teen daughter who didn't want to see it because she hates teen movies, but we both liked the weirdness of this. The music is great, too.
