if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

i have to agree with mostly everyone that wrote about this topic about the aquaman show. cw was nuts for not picking up this series. i think this show would have been excellent to see. the characters were will picked the trailer left me wanting more just like everyone else. i think if cw realized or even read some of these comments. the realize their mistake and maybe even think about maybe working on trying to make the show happen. cause some of the shows that are out out don't think there going to last and if they do well good job. but really Aquaman would make a great summer or fall show. Here's hoping that cw gets there act together.

Considering this was only the pilot for a series that will never be, it was fantastic.I fail to comprehend what those people who are giving it really low ratings on this site are thinking. Nearly everything they said was inaccurate. The acting was good. The dialogue was acceptable. The special effects (for a TV budget) were quite good. The story was awesome. It set up a lot of potential story lines for the aforementioned series which will never be (and I mean a lot).Since the comparison is inevitable, I may as well make it. This was created by the same fellows that created Smallville. Now, I think that Smallville was okay. The first season was really dragged down by repetitive plot lines that never added up to much and then the show (while still watchable after this point) had no real excuse to continue after season 4.As for Aquaman/Mercy Reef, since it never got past the pilot, none of those criticisms could apply here. However, just comparing the pilots of both shows, I can already see that Aquaman has the upper hand. A significant part of Smallville's pilot was taken up by the monster-of-the-week subplot which did not affect Clark's story significantly that was so incredibly prevalent in the first season. Aquaman had a villain who was killed in the end, so this might indicate that it would have suffered a similar problem. However the difference is that Aquaman's villain was intricately tied to his journey to becoming a hero because she was part of the Atlantean war that would have been a big part of the series. Smallville's weekly villains were connected only in the fact that their powers came from the Kryptonite which fell to Earth with Clark. This villain, in addition to being the monster that had killed A.C.'s mother, was also just the first step in much bigger villainous events that would have taken place.All-in-all, this is a television pilot that is worth your while. I know I will be saying what many others are saying, but I believe it is true: this really should have been picked up for a series.Quite possibly the best part about this adaption is that I used to be in the camp that saw Aquaman as a relatively useless superhero. Thanks to this pilot, I have changed my mind about him.

Mercy Reef could be the ultimate example of how to make a really bad pilot. It appears as if the recipe that was used to create this show was:1) Get a bunch of good looking ex-swimsuit models who can't act: Apart from Ving Rhames, the entire cast combined couldn't deliver lines for a gum commercial. Sure, they all look cute, but their expressionless, bobble-head deliveries look like first year high-school drama.2) Forget about a plot, just throw lots of poorly thought out action scenes together: The writers seemed to have missed the boat on coming up with a decent enough reason for the audience to stick around. Sure, let's just believe that the sea baddies can tell when Orin is flying above, but can't find him when he's floating outside the door of a wrecked plane. Let's make it so that he'll be out and about in the sea and completely defenseless, but instead they go pick on a jet plane and then be so kind as to leave him alone when he goes to save the mandatory hot female pilot. Okay then...3) Let's embody every character with every cliché trait you can throw at a wall. Upstanding military man with angst ridden, surfer attitude son who has no sense of responsibility. Lone female pilot (did I mention it's mandatory she be hot?) who is up against the world being given the top assignment. And should we talk about the lovely, bar-tending brunette trying to give the main character a sense of purpose? What is this, Dawson's Creek?4) And should we throw in some dark-suited government baddies as well? That always goes over like... like... well, something. But I wouldn't leave it in the hands of these writers to think up what?Seriously, I have to thank the maker for this show being passed over. It is one of the most poorly crafted series I have ever seen. I can't believe that people are actually giving this garbage a rating of 10 out of 10. If this is quality television to some people, then some people need to get out more. This is not Battlestar Galactica level quality. This is not even He-Man quality. This show reads as if it were written over a weekend because the pay looked good, not as if it was a lovingly developed and nurtured work.Maybe the show's creators should have just used the energy involved in turning this show out to make Smallville a better series. It obviously wasn't a lot of energy, but every little bit thrown back to a half-decent series is energy better spent.

Only now i got to see it..and i must say its not that great...not different from "Surface"..and the special effects..well they are well done.....but i have seen better......i think the bermude story and atlantis kind of wear's off...we always want something new and aquamen doesn't bring anything new........Maybe "the flash" would be more interesting as a series ...but smallville beat's them all...until now of course(super power type movie).I don't think aquamen would have lasted to long.....there are so many shows nowadays that are much much better...but still..aquamen it's not bad at all..but it's not that good.
