The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

Could it be that the spirit of a dead cadaver is killing off all those who have medical dealings with her body?Judging by the unfairly low rating it has on the main internet movie sites, it's very likely that the slow pace and lack of gore has counted against Unrest, which is a big shame. Jason Todd Ipson (director) draws on his real life experiences as a Boston general surgery employee to produce a film of skin itching substance. The premise is nifty and the real location shooting really adds weight to this mortality gone awry tinged horror. There's a freshness to the film that leaps out, finding a film maker not merely content to pander to the formulaic hordes to win plaudits. Having an impossibly gorgeous female lead (Corri English) as the main protagonist would lend one to think that is not the case, but there's a rawness to English's acting that suits the character perfectly. There's a splendid realism factor to the picture, the blend of the real and the smart effects work nestling nicely together on the mortuary slab.Atmosphere is a word that has always been key in non blood letting horror parlance, and Unrest has it in abundance. It would have been easy for Ipson to rely on boo-jump shocks, but he doesn't, he uses his knowledge of setting and subject matter to craft a tight and tense thriller that manages to gnaw away at the senses, even ensuring that the cadaver, as dead as she apparently is, is a full and rich character holding court as the body count starts to tot up.The musical score (Michael Cohen) is a bit intrusive at times, a romantic sub-plot a little pointless, while the finale doesn't quite hit great heights given what has led up to it, but this is a smart dark mood accentuated piece and it is well worth checking out. 7.5/10

Unrest (2006) I am not sure what to make of this movie at all, I didn't hate or anything but I don't anything really creepy or scary happened in this movie.People were being killed off, one by one off screen, so we don't get to see the deaths on screen as they are all off screen. We not sure why or how they all died, they never show a ghost or dead body walking, It never really made cleverer , if the body was alive or not,How did it attack people, if the body was not dead? Wacthed to the end thinking, we get to see dead body move but we didn't get that. I thought acting was good 4 out of 10 the movie feel empty

8 Movies to die for. Sadly I have seen several movies from them and just don't understand the hype. I have seen better on late night TV.Medical students are learning anatomy and doing an autopsy. They have gotten the wrong corpse, she has a vendetta and doesn't care who she gets revenge on.One of the students decides to investigate and researches the back story of the corpse. It's like an episode of Scooby Doo but with a cadaver.Basically, it's not a very good movie and if I had paid to see it in a theater instead of at home, I would have been angry I wasted money to see this.

If you watched this and felt it needed "more" you could try watching the original German film called "Anatomie." It's subtitled, yeah, but a bit better acting. Includes Franke Portente in the leading lady role. This film follows Anatomie almost to the letter, but the acting is simply not as good IMHO.I agree w/a few other comments about calling medical students Doctor and the concept of Aztec curses from Brazil. It wasn't a bad way to spend a sleepless late night, but I still prefer the German version.I highly recommend the German release (from 2000 I think) even with subtitles. Although I never checked the DVD to find out if I could play the DVD w/a voice over.
