A secret government research project tries reviving the World War II "Philadelphia Experiment," which was an attempt to create a cloaking device to render warships invisible. When the experiment succeeds, it brings back the original ship (the Eldridge) that disappeared during the first test in 1943 - which brings death and destruction to the 21st century. It's up to the sole survivor of the first experiment and his granddaughter to stop it.

if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

I truly revile stories where people have meaningless dialogue. If you are told by the resident expert on a subject that bombing something will a) not harm it, and b) will rebound and cause 10-fold damage to the surrounding area, and then you do it anyway, and it turns out the expert is right, along with destroying a nuclear power reactor (and presumably a large chunk of the UK?), then having a character continue on their stupid course of action persistently, and murdering everyone who might actually be useful, makes for a very stupid character. This film is 2 hours watching a very stupid character, and being annoyed at the consequences.

The only poor reaction that I have with this version, 2012, is the filming technique. Staging was good, scenes were well composed, image crisp and clear. The lighting was acceptable throughout the film. The one critique I have is with the method of filming.Visually, the movie appeared as if it were a video, instead of a film. It took on the ambiance of a TV 'soap opera', instead of a 'movie'. The 'feeling' of the visuals I could not dismiss...and, therefore, had trouble suspending disbelief. The 'fx' were tricky and well executed. The cast was solid, a cadre of professionals. No amateurs in the mix.Whatever camera/lens/medium was used to make this otherwise good offering should not be repeated. Using film would have made this production great! On the story line, I would have 'fleshed out' the villains a little more, with a backstory. As it is, they seem to just appear, attempting to obliterate... a malevolent force without a reason. An entertaining movie...

Attempting to watch this movie did 2 things... It made me waste 80 minutes of my life that could have been used for something totally useless... and it wasted the $3 I paid for the DVD in the "bargain" bin. Having a civilian streetwalker "in charge" with the authority to go "nuclear" is just 1 blip on the idiocy meter, constant CGI "disintegrations/absorbtions (depending on the character) leaves one wondering "HUH"? why did he get absorbed and they get disintegrated... It is not often I get riled up about my wasting time, or wasting nominal amounts of cash, unfortunately, this movie did just that. I'd rather watch GALAXINA (yuckkk...)

There is still a chance that the Fortean/UFO/Paranormal Community will see a Movie based on the controversial claims about a Naval Experiment in the 1940's to render a Ship invisible to Radar. It is rife with Colorful Characters with Names like Einstein and Tesla inserted into the Lore. There are elements like Time Travel, Invisibility, and Scientific Parlance like Unified Field Theories and Space Time Continuum to spice things up.Books have been Written and Talk Radio has had its share of Researchers, Witnesses, and Believers making various claims and tweaking Imaginations. So the Mythology is Rich and just waiting for someone to climb aboard and do it Justice. So far the 1984 Movie of the same Name is an Entertaining piece of Fluff that is a Fun if Flawed Film. This one is not as good but contains enough of the Story to make it a bit Mystifying but is sunk by its lack of Intelligence and contains only a smidgen of connection to the "Real Life" Experiment. It relies on shoot em ups and is heavy on the Government cliché, lets stop this by blowing things up and if conventional Weapons fail, bring on the Mini-Nukes.Maybe worth a view but this is a Made for TV Movie that wastes a lot of Money on a lot of Hooey and is another one of those Syfy Originals that continues to embarrass the Network and their Name is almost synonymous with the foregone conclusion of Mediocrity.
